Question on pumice size(s)

This question is for anyone ordering pumice from General Pumice Products. I have bought several bags and have been quite pleased. All the bags I bought were 1/8" size. I run the pumice over a 1/8" screen to eliminate fines (there aren't many) and I wash it. No complaints. But....I remember awhile back reading an exchange between a couple of people here, who were buying the 3/16" size and swearing by it. I know GPP says that's the most popular size.

Most of my plants are in smaller pots -- 4" or 6", sometimes 8" or 10". I mix pumice in barkless gritty mix with screened manna pro and screened larger-particle Turface. I also use it for Sans in "combo" mixes -- some C/S soil, manna pro, pumice, a handful of perlite etc. I like GPP's pumice, but it's not cheap to buy. Any thoughts on if I should go up to the larger size, and why? Thanks to anyone who can offer advice.
