OT I received my plants
Comments (19)Sorry to hear about the cold snap. I hope your plants will be okay. My medinilla is at the south east corner of the house. There is a overhang there so it doesn't get straight on sun but it does get early afternoon sun and it likes it. Our sun is not that intense here due to the humidity. There is not alot of info out there on medinilla but I found one source that says they like dappled afternoon sun so that is what I gave it lol. They are epiphytes in nature. It sounds like you got good plants for the area you want to plant in. There are so many good things you can plant there. Some may need frost protection in the winter but sometimes putting the tender ones up close to the house or under larger trees that keep their leaves in the winter etc. will help. I have a monstera that lives under a pine tree and has been out in the 20's this year in a pot and is still alive lol. ~Lenette...See MoreSurgery tomorrow
Comments (68)Cathy, you are sure right about that. She just melts my heart when I hear her call for me. I do wish this annoying stinging under my arm from the sentinel node biopsy incision would go away. It's getting better and it should go away after a while. The surgeon says that the nerves get damaged when they cut to take out the lymph nodes. The stinging means they are healing (and at least I don't have any numb spots). That and not being able to take a shower (I'm so tired of sponge baths) make me feel like whining but I hate whining so I try not to. I'm so glad that they don't have to go back in to take out the rest of the nodes. And I get to take showers again starting this weekend - only one and a half more days! I try to focus on the positive. And I'm not suppose to pick up my granddaughter for a while (though sometimes I do - I try to be very careful and mostly use my other arm). Donna and Linda, what is next is to meet with the oncologist which happens next week. And I also meet with the doctor who does the radiation. I'm not sure. My cancer cells have some aggressive features so I think they may still recommend chemo. With stage I for my cancer characteristics (if I'm using the tools right - I'll need to check with the oncologist), the recurrence risk is still in double digits and chemo cuts that in half (to less than 10%) so I'm thinking that chemo may be worth it to cut down the chance that I have to deal with this again. And it cuts the risk of dying from the cancer in the next 10 years something like from 4% to 2%. So it is around the point where it is difficult to weigh the risks vs. benefits. I'm hoping that the oncologist can suggest a lower side effect / lower risk set of chemo drugs....See MoreFinally got the biopsy test results.
Comments (29)Wonderful news Clare! I'm so happy to hear that this weight has been lifted. Hopefully you will be able to find out soon what is causing your pain and get that dealt with....See MoreOT - Very sorry, but I have an etiquette question
Comments (16)Can a card be considered a gift? After all, it costs money too. Heck, some cards cost as much as a gift! What about a card with money in it? It's not wrapped up in a large box with a bow so no one will know it's actually a gift. They're probably trying to avoid the scenario where the birthday boy has to sit down and open a lot of gifts with everyone standing around watching. Have you noticed that even when they say NO GIFTS someone always breaks the rule? They bring wine, food, flowers, they find ways. And then everyone else is left thinking uh oh maybe I should have brought something afterall, a hostess gift at the least. I like the suggestion of ommitting it's a birthday from the invitation. We're all too condition from childhood to bring gifts to birthday parties. That's why potlucks are good. It makes the guests feel like they're bringing something....See Morenikthegreek
