Uneven kitchen counter overhang

Hi, thanks in advance for reading this and for any opinions you can offer! So, basically there is something uneven in my new kitchen cabinets/countertops. There should be 1.5 inch overhang all the way around the kitchen, but in one section, the overhang goes so crooked that the counter is even with the drawers! I am so upset. It looks so terrible and not at all professional, and cost us so much money. It is especially obvious when you open the wide drawer in the middle of this section (see pic- the overhang tapers away from left to right!) The fabricators came to template so I don't understand how this could happen?? To me, it looks like the cabinet faces are uneven, so maybe this is the contractors fault?? But wouldn't that be noticed during templating? I am planning to call my contractor tomorrow but am just so upset and looking for reassurance this can and should be fixed? I am also worried about the potential for damaging the cabinets or quartz when it's removed? And since there is a seam, will they be able to break it and get it back to as perfect as it was? What an expensive nightmare. Thanks for your thoughts!!

Relax it probably was just installed crooked. You can check the opposing corner to see if it sticks out further.

Counters are easily removed as usually their weight is what actually keeps them in place. The glue isn't fully cured for a couple days.

I doubt a reputable counter Co wouldn't attempt to correct. Errors are made installers are human and have bad days.

While you're looking...all the drawers and doors should be "even" (if you have adjustable hinges). It's the final "tweaking" of the cabinets. Some guys can "hang" them but can't "tweak" worth a darn.

I recently had my countertops installed and I think I have too much overhang. Most areas have a 2 inch overhang ...with the largest been 2-1/8 to 2-1/4". I noticed it immediately. My contractor says it is standard depth, but when look it up all I can find says 1 to 1.25" is standard. Another thing that makes it more obvious to me is that my cabinets are inset. So the doors sit flush with the face frame. I had the opportunity to go with a company that was very meticulous, but were going to take a little longer, and were slightly more expensive...now I regret changing course. It's probably not something I will be able to unsee. I also don't love the curve in the corner. After reading this post I realize I was not presented with a template for approval. My contractor has been dealing directly with the fabricator and installer. Not sure what to do or what can be done. It's difficult to get an appreciation of it on this picture. (sigh)

cpartist.....Seriously.....I would not be frying with someone sitting there. Besides, there is a pop up vent behind the cook top and it wouldn't be appropriate to have it raised if someone were sitting there. This space will only be used for going through the mail, having a cup of coffee, or maybe a sandwich....when no "real" cooking is going on. Actually....the space is a focal point, mostly for looks only, from the dining room into the kitchen and just needs a little something to make it flow. Thanks for your input!

It’s a raised bar, likely the standard 42”. The GC said they would have to add support. There is plenty of room. Wife and I will eat dinner there at night, which is why we are adding a TV above the fridge. Will also be used a lot for parties and get-togethers. The peninsula will go just in front (out of picture) of the cabinets you see at the very bottom of the picture. There will be a sink in that cabinet set. TV goes just above the Subzero fridge large cutout on left. MUA and HVAC vent to left of TV. Fridge is French Door, flush install, hence the 7” border on left part of frame to allow for full articulation of the Left door. 30” Wolf M-series bottom right, Wolf CSO above (incorrectly framed at the moment).

Thanks for your comment! The countertop is flush along the wall that the drawer pictured is on, so it's not just on crooked. I imagine the cabinets will have to be adjusted or new stone cut to accurately create the proper overhang all the way along the cabinets. But I hope you're right and the fabricators will be willing to fix this!

The fabricators should be reasonable and fix...It does not appear as if cabinet adjustments can fix the issue.

It's either a mistake at template or some thing went wrong in fabrication and they "tweaked" a little to much. It's obviously their problem and they probably already know it will have to be replaced. Why they would glue the seam is irresponsible they couldn't possibly think this would fly. They must be subcontracted installers and "it's not their problem". Call it in they will most likely replace. If you have any backsplash to do hold off. Removing won't damage the cabinets but depending on the adhesive they used in the seam they may have a hard time with that none the less it won't damage your cabinets either.
