ThatÂs what I was afraid of. I didnÂt want to put ideas in peopleÂs headsÂbut that is the reservation I have. I think having to use it on one side of the wall, asymmetrically, doesnÂt work. I was SO sure it would look great, and be really like the finishing touch in this room. Darn! The thickness, bulkiness, of it bothers me too, in that place. Too much mass. I thought, before I tried it, that it would balance the weight of the solid looking vanity. Instead it just makes it look like too much weight on the left side of the room and nothing on the right. Having to one side bothers me with the light fixture too, and I love that light. It doesnÂt show well in the photos, but is a stained glass repro I ordered from a craftsman lighting company, in a custom size. The mirror is discontinued, so I canÂt get another to balance it better. It doesnÂt look right centered on the big mirror either. Too odd when you are standing in front of the vanity. Sigh. I love this mirror. Buying this one when it went on clearance was what made me decide to have a craftsman bathroom in the first place! (Well, that and it opens off a craftsman family room.) I have one open wall on that room, where I used to have a framed picture. IÂll try propping it up there. The craftsman family room already has a mirror.

Thanks Les, but the light fixtures are actually pink, not blue. (Blue is shown when you click on the link, but as I said above, I ordered them in pink.) It almost looks like there could be some pink tones in the mirror as well, but not sure. I should have mentioned too... I don't have a particular price range but this house is sooo over budget, I'm trying to save where I can. Definitely under $200 for the mirror. I like the beadboard idea, just haven't seen one in the right size. Pottery Barn has one but I'm not convinced that the size is quite right. I may do as lukk said and get a plain mirror.

On pure aesthetics the lower example pleased my eye more, and then I read your post! Imagine that .... I'll tell you what would please my eye even more -- being able to see myself! (vanity, thy name is ME) I think it's a more interesting composition having the mirror lower, and I think it's even more interesting if you're able to see yourself. But scrolling back up and reading others responses I am just one in a long line who feels this way. How do you feel? And on a totally different topic, I am so envious of your grand piano. I play exceedingly poorly and I've lived without a piano for years, but a girl can dream .... My two year-old has recently discovered the piano (at a little play class we take together), and watching him tickle (okay, pound) the ivories made me emotional. (I'm studying the banjo and already the two year-old makes prettier sounds on it than I!) So with your outdoor fireplace and your indoor piano I am going to live vicariously through you! amysrq, my hero!

A 60” piece of furniture without a waterproof top does NOT fit in a 61” space. It would need to be a 68” space, minimum. 72” would be even better. You need 4” minimum clear space on either side gor cleaning and other maintenance. At 1/2”, you can’t even fit a pinky at the sides to swipe out cobwebs. Much less a paint brush. Plus, sinks at 43”H are virtually unusable. Water would run down your arms and onto the not suitably waterproofed vanity and onto the floor. The new standard height for vanity sink tops is 36” tall. Thats what an undermount ee sink and 36”H vanity gives you. You really need to put a full stop to this and hire a designer. Design isn’t about pretty colors and nice stone. Design is making sure the math works so you don’t expend effort on something completely unusable. Put that piece in a foyer or dining room, where it belongs.carry a tape measure with you wherever you go. Learn ergonomics and building codes and design standards. Or take the easy route and just hire the designer who already knows all of that.
