Please help me to ID this seedling

The seedling's leaf looked like hibicus. They came up lot of seedling near by the hibicus bush flowers. I am not sure the hibiscus flower have seed , i am in zone 8 northern California. Thanks for any info .

Pretty sure it's not Hibiscus. The cotyledons of H. syriacus look nothing like that and cotyledon variation across the genus is likely low.

I have not noticed the leaf shape changing other than difference from cotyledon leaves to first true leaves. Whether it be a swazicum, somalense or Arabicum, etc. I have one plant purchased as Somalense and was told that once I see it bloom, then I would have a better idea as the leaves are not typical Somalense shape. Just yesterday I discovered that what I planted out last year as a Stokes Aster is some weed/wildflower that lives in the woods behind my house. Sigh. At least you didn't plant yours out!

The leaves are elongated like many of the taller cannas out there. They are shaped almost exactly like my canna musafolia which gets very tall. Here is a link that may be helpful. http://www.karcheskycanna.com/ There is a picture on this site of a canna that looks very much like yours. It is called c. indica 'Costa Rica'. You will get a better idea of what it is once the plants are established and reach full hieght.

They're Maples of some description. And there's an acorn sprouting just past 3 o'clock.

Actually something I've seen in person...the 3:00 acorn looks more like a Gray Pine germinating. The pine nut husks at 11:30 & 1:00 confirmed it for me.
