Comments (6)Microsoft Security Essentials may be a little better for you, download it to the desktop from the link below, don't double click the set up file just yet. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ Once you have the set up file for Microsoft Security Essentials, visit the link below and download the AVG REMOVER choose the 32 bit or 64 bit according to your system. http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools AVG Remover eliminates all the parts of your AVG installation from your computer, including registry items, installation files, user files, etc. Once the AVG remover has done it's work you can now double click the Microsoft Security Essentials set up file and proceed to install it. Comments (20)I'll click on link that is from someone that's at least been around a while and is a topic in which I have interest. If someone just goes something like "THIS IS SOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!" then nope. It's just plain rude to not say what it is you want me to open. No different than when someone leaves a message "CALL ME!!!!" which doesn't get a prompt response from me either. Say why, or say nothing. :) Same thing with email attachments. I don't open my door for someone in a mask either. And I have Opera which doesn't have all of the security problems other browsers have so I feel a bit safer using that. Plus it's so much faster that when I was on dialup it made possible many things not comfortable on others. I have good protection on my system too and keep it maintained. But the biggest thing is using common sense. If something smells, I don't go for it. Let some other sucker's computer die from curiosity. Although I learned to be a bit paranoid when I handled sensitive materials and couldn't risk having my computer infected and it's just carried over. I still back up often too!...See MoreHow can I find if I have the antivirus protection installed properly.
Comments (12)"Devices" are different than personal computers, which is what most people own, unless you're considering a PC to be a device. But I think you're referring to Javascript - a completely different animal. Youtube uses either Flash or HTML5 - not Java. What program(s) - specifically - are you using that require Java ? I've had Java onboard for over 10 years, and have only had to use it once that I remember, for something very non-essential. I keep it blocked in the browser for security reasons, and have never had to unblock it - for youtube or anything else. If you're one of the few users that need it, then install it and keep it up to date, but it's not really in use anymore, if at all, so in general most security advisers recommend that people not install it. In addition, if you're going to install it, I would use a tool to block it in the browser until needed there - something like QuickJava for Firefox. See : Java Patch Plugs 19 Security Holes - Brian Krebs "seriously consider removing Java altogether. I have long urged end users to junk Java unless they have a specific use for it (this advice does not scale for businesses, which often have legacy and custom applications that rely on Java). This widely installed and powerful program is riddled with security holes, and is a top target of malware writers and miscreants."...See More- 7 years ago
