Anti-virus protection for the aging

computers that is !!!

I have had one crappy week.

After signing up with Norton for yet another year,

I have been told I need to buy a new computer.

My poor Sony ME is outdated and Norton is no longer compatible with my computer.

That sounds like they want a divorce!

(And trying to get them to move out and leave my e-mail

behind is another matter!)

The guy at the computer store said I should have tossed it couple of years ago.

Hey honey - want a newer model?*?*?

But the old one worked great -it was just getting on in years.

Well that's what my husband keeps telling about the car, too

-Hey, they're both 7 years old!

I was suggested McAfree and another antivirus.

Nope - said the Computer Guy - They only go back to XP!

So home I come.

Head hanging low.

But than I see the neighbor has written me a note.

He found a anti-virus for the ageing.

Avira "AntiVir"

It works with my old timer!

And it's free too!

Saves on the old SS check, too.

Someday I have to break down and buy a new computer and car

- but not this month!........cheryl

Yacheryl, I was having a hard time also to find virus protection for a couple of my older computers. I now have "Avast" on my ME laptop (128 ram) and it works great. I put "Avira AntiVir" on the 98 computer and it works fine.

AntiVir or Avast are both reputable anti virus programs, I have used both at different times.

You will need a firewall too so try Jetico. It is freeware also and works on ME

who the heck are all these new people and some of the things suggested here are not the ones you want please be careful we have had some trolls here lately trying to sell their junk. You can not run 2 antivirus programs at the same time if they are both running full time it will cause a conflict that is very well known and documented and will be told to you at any of the support forums you go to so you need to fully remove Norton since you now have AVG. go here and use app remove and the norton removal tool from the security garden link Antivirus Product Removal Tools Using AppRemover it is free spybot search and destroy was at one time very good but today there are some that are much preferred so I suggest replacing spybot and adaware with these free products, update them each time you use them and scan weekly with full scan.
