Insomnia--Yawn, what do you do?
Comments (23)I had one of those nights last night where I woke up at 3:30AM and couldn't get back to sleep for over an 1 1/2 hours. I just lay there perfectly still so as not to wake up DH. Also I can't get up and read or I wake him up and the house is cold. We turn off the heat at night and it can get down to 62 deg. I try not to think too much about things I have to do the next day, because if I do I can't get back to sleep at all. Think pleasant thoughts, it really does help. When DH was away I would take the dog to bed with me. I don't know what it is, but having her next to me lulls me to sleep. I can't do that with DH in the bed. His rule, no dogs allowed. Darn! (I sleep better with her then him any day. LOL) Clare...See MoreWhat do you do when you have no more pots?
Comments (16)I tried a few places in NYC and this is my experience: Dunkin Donuts and Subway, said they don't get anything in buckets. Coldstone creamery, said i should come back on a day that they change stock. Waiting to see what size they have and if they actually will give me them. I walked into a small Chinese Store and they gave me a 5 bucket gallon that had soy sauce in it. They didn't look too happy about it even though the store was empty and they throw them out. now my question is how long do i soak water in it to get rid of all the salt from the soy sauce...?...See MoreWhat do YOU do when you can't sleep?
Comments (66)It's no wonder you're having trouble sleeping with that bright light shining into your bedroom. The management of the other building may not realize that it's so intrusive. Perhaps you could ask them to adjust it so that it doesn't shine so directly into you apt. I rarely have trouble getting to sleep, but I sometimes hve trouble staying asleep and find myself awake in the wee hours. It doesn't happen very often now, but the last few years of my working life it was almost every night. I chalked it up to having work related things on my mind. Anyway, what I did/do that works like a charm for me is to play a mental exercise. I'll pick something like places, foods, names, etc., and starting with the letter A think of all of the places/foods/names I can that start with A. When I can't think of anymore, I move to B and so on. Rarely do I get further than C or D before falling back to sleep. An example of places could go something like Alaska, Arkansas, Amsterdam, Africa, Albuquerque and so on. I'm always amazed at how well it works as I would think it would stimulate my brain and make me more awake, but it seems to have the opposite effect....See MoreWhen your upset or have anxiety what do you do that helps?
Comments (45)I do much the same as Roy4. I go outside, pull weeds, deadhead, edit. The neighborhood is usually quiet other than wind, insects, birds and I can get lost in what I'm doing. And stop thinking. I should go now. My SIL just called and asked me where else to look for one of mothers hearing aids. It's not a 2000 sq foot apartment, its about 1/4 of that. Good grief, just look - since this is almost a weekly occurrence. Don't always feel the need to call me 2 hours away and try to include me in the search long distance ;0(...See More- 9 years ago
