What would you do with these peppers?
Comments (19)My sis was going to make pepper Jelly once. She never even thought about wearing gloves, BIG mistake. I felt so sorry for her but there wasn't anything I could do. Marda, no Southerner would be caught dead without cream cheese, pepper jelly and crackers. It's a staple here, much like grits and cheese. If you have company drop in, you can always put cream cheese on a dish, cover it with pepper jelly surround it with crackers, open a bottle of wine or mix a drink....See MoreWhat do *you* do with sweet banana peppers?
Comments (4)like you I have an over abundance of banana peppers also. I have pickled about 20 quarts so far. I have fried and frozen some also. But I found a really good recipe for a battered and fried if you want to eat some fresh. Its actually for okra but it works great for banana peppers also. Ingredients 6 cups oil, for frying 1/2 cup cornmeal 1 cup all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons House Seasoning, recipe follows 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 2 pounds fresh okra, sliced 1/2-inch thick 1/2 cup buttermilk Directions Heat oil in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet to 350 degrees F. (You may not need to use this much oil; do not fill the pan more than halfway up the sides with oil.) In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, House Seasoning, and cayenne pepper. Dip okra in buttermilk and then dredge in cornmeal-flour mixture to coat well. Carefully add okra to the hot oil, in batches as needed, and cook until golden brown. Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and then serve immediately. House Seasoning: 1 cup salt 1/4 cup black pepper 1/4 cup garlic powder Yield: 1 1/2 cups Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months. *I found that if after dredging if you put them in the fridge for about 15 minutes the batter sticks to them better when frying. I also used more cayenne than they called for and used some kind of a dipping sauce. I was wondering if I could possibly batter and partially fry some and than freeze them and than pull them out and finish frying them when I want them. I wonder what kind of shape the peppers themselves would be in....See MoreHow Do You Know When to Use White or Ivory
Comments (13)That makes sense, forhgtv. My bed is iron in a marbelized finish and my dresser is pale yellow in a style called New French. In one corner, I have a ladies Victorian parlor chair in a pale finish like my dresser, and it is upholstered in raspberry velvet. I use blinds and valances on the tall windows which are on either side of the dresser. The valances are a floral print in blues, yellows, and pinks. I have three botanical rose prints above the bed, the center one being higher than the other two. The matting for the pictures is dusty blue, in a paisley pattern. Two of the prints have pink roses and the other has white. So, you see, I have a lot of pattern going on in the room. That's why I want simple bedding. I do have a coverlet in dusty blue. Would that be a better choice than a white or ivory matelasse coverlet?...See MoreProtecting the bottom of white cast iron sink--what do you use?
Comments (25)We inherited a Kohler Heartland cast iron sink when we bought the house and I love it. I decided to keep it when we changed out the countertops and I had the undercount sink in our other home and this one has A lot of room inside. When I need to clean it I use Mrs. Meyers llama purpose cleaner, baking soda scrub, or the vinegar scrub. It’s holds up very well. Most of the time I just use Dawn detergent. Good luck! If you are worried Joseph Joseph makes some fun tubs with a drain you can wash or dry your items in but you still have to clean those really well at times....See More- 9 years ago
