Is BM Chantilly lace on both walls and ceilings oK?

I decided on chantilly lace for my walls and ceilings but now having second thoughts on the ceiling color. Can it both be the same?

Regal BM chantilly lace for walls

Eggshell or matt? (paint specialist recommends matt)

IF using matt, she recommends me paint the ceiling the same?

the kitchen cabinets seem to match the chantilly lace paint, Is that an ok look?

painter starts this tuesday so any advice is appreciated!

They can be the same. However, ceilings can often "read" just a bit darker, so maybe a half strength formula of Chantilly on the ceiling/matte. I like eggshell finish on kitchen walls.......matte finish in other rooms where there is less wear and tear. Also depends on trim color elsewhere in your home.

I frequently paint the walls and ceiling the same color, both in a flat finish.

If you are doing Chantilly Lace on the ceiling do it flat . I used Chantilly Lace on my walls in a flat because I have a new home and they only do flat here for new homes. If your woodwork paint is oil Chantilly Lace will turn in a year to a softer white. Satin is beautiful in oil but not in latex. Latex for moulding should be in semi gloss in my opinion. If you have another room with your gray flooring look at china white with Chantilly lace... I have a lot of gray and china white looks great.

Is there a reason you couldn't just do the ceiling in Chantilly Lace also? I've actually been to a few houses where the walls and ceiling were all Chantilly Lace (coincidentally enough) and it looks fine to me.

Don't use white dove. I painted my walls with it and it was hella-dingy! repainted w/Simply White. so much better. (I also did my trim w/it) you will see a natural difference between the eggshell and the semi gloss finish. both of these are Simply White, but the trim looks brighter. it's just because of the reflective quality in the finish. You could try White Heron. Cheating Heart is another great color if you want some real contrast https://www.drivenbydecor.com/benjamin-moore-chantilly-lace/ U mentioned Crushed Ice. I have the walls in the kitchen painted Light Pewter. it's the same ballpark as crushed ice. you can see it here on these two walls. Again, Simply White on all of that trim. (cabinets were supposed to be that shade but they did a lacquer conversion and went one shade whiter, I think) IRL they look identical. night

I wouldn't put those two colors together either. Since you already have Chantilly Lace kitchen cabinets you should go with that color. For me that would be way too much white, so if that is what's making you hesitate and gravitate toward a warmer white for the walls, look at other off whites for the wall color such as Silver Satin, White Wisp or Paper White. Warm colors don't really go with Chantilly Lace. If you use all Chantilly Lace, the different sheens will cause the color to look slightly different on the walls as compared to the trim so maybe that will be enough difference for you. Sample before paying someone else to paint so you're sure and you don't waste your money. Or if you do it yourself you will be wasting your own time. Your bedrooms and bathrooms are opportunities to use other colors if you don't want all white. It is usually best to carry the same trim color throughout a house, but I have cheated on that if there is a doorway (with a door that closes, not just an opening) between rooms. In that case the average person won't notice if the trim colors are different.

Benjamin Moore has a ceiling paint finish that is really great.
I would do that on the ceiling and eggshell on the wall.

BM Chantilly Lace is a very light off white color. It would be fine on the ceiling. I prefer their Matte finish but eggshell fine on the walls only.

I also paint my rooms with the same color on the walls and ceilings, using an eggshell finish. I love the look of the eggshell a lot better than a matte paint but that's my personal preference.

Painters like matte because it's easier to touch up. Eggshell/satin is more durable, but you will have to paint the whole wall if you need to touch up. It looks lovely to have the ceiling and walls the same color - just do flat on the ceiling.

That's a very good point Kristin Smith Int.! In fact I just did a repair on a wall this week and repainted with BM regal select. We did not have to repaint the whole wall saving the client $$$. I love BR matte. It really is a lovely , tough finish that is washable. It is not a completely flat finish, more hmmm... velvety I would say. Don't be afraid to use it. Very nice finish indeed.

I like a matte finish on both surfaces and I often paint walls and ceilings the same especially when the color is light.

I will stick with matte for walls.

The paint specialist who is also a designer said i would save money if i used the same matte for the ceilings. I was hoping I can use a flat lower line of paint from BM for the ceilings (to save money). Of course I will ask the painter this question also but if anyone knows which way is better, please let me know!

I would like to do eggshell for the kitchen, the kitchen is open and connected to the living room, would there be a noticeable difference in paint color?

It will be cheaper to use the same color/product everywhere.

Even tho it's the same color, your painter should charge you a fee to switch product because it requires new, clean rollers, brushes, pans - requires more time and labor to make the change.

You're talking about saving pennies per square to begin with and once you factor in the color change fee, it could actually end up costing you more to use a cheaper grade of paint on the ceiling.

I agree with using the same paint for the entire room, including the ceilings. Since I painted both my entryway and living room with the same silvery paint, walls and ceilings, it was more cost effective to buy two gallons of what I wanted and it was the perfect amount of paint, with a little leftover if we need to touch up an area. I did the same thing in my dining room.

Jennjennxx, it sounds as if your paint specialist/ designer has you and your pocketbook in mind. I think you should trust their expert opinion in this matter.
