Do you mean, you cannot open the main wash door? I have never heard of a Miele that does not have an emergency release!!

Every 3 months I clean out the pin trap on the front of the machine. I figure we are so lucky having a Miele, and Miele provides the clean out (pin trap) on the front of the machine. If you do it every 3 or even 6 months...it is basically clean and little to no gray ick!!

Yes, Adam. No tab to pull to open door. Seems to b missing or defective. I can see a yellow plastic strip behind the small metal openings but cannot pull it through. Wondering if there is another way.

we have a major power outage in the area. Theres a tree resting on the power line at the top of our road. No traffic lights in town. It could be another day before the power comes back. Just would like to rescue the laundry thats locked in the machine.

Is this what yours looks like? If yes, take the corner of the orange tool and push the orange lever down to open the door. I test it when I clean the pin trap.

Last week I heard this terrible rattling on the spin then a loud whoosh and the noise instantly gone. Checked the pin trap when done and le voila, a rogue penny.

No. Here is mine. This was a replacement machine. It was new but wtf?

I agree, wtf! I wonder if it hasn't shifted up inside a bit. Have you checked up inside the upper right corner with a flashlight, to see if you can grab the wire with pliers or an awl. That would not make me happy either, it's a safety issue to me.

I thought taking the screw cap off, emptied the washer. I don't have my instructions with me, but I thought when the trap was cleaned, the tub was drained.

The door release should be to the right of the pin trap. If your machine have been opened the release pull need to be put in place, I found that out when needing to clean out an internal hoze. Look inside as good as you can if you can find it. If not as you said Miele needs ro know. Every Miele I ever have owned and it has been a few have had this emergency door opener.

Enduring: taking the skrew cap uf do drain the machine, it has to be done carefully because it can be alot of water coming out but it does not open the door lock.

Just took a few photos of mine. I clean the trap every 4-5 months. But forgot about the yellow ring.

I cleaned the trap and drained the machine. enduring got a good shot of the horizontal slot and the ring and tab. I can see yellow plastic behind the horizontal slot but cannot get to it. Besides, the diameter of the ring is larger than the slot. It is certainly not accessible or broken or both.

The power has been out for 24 hours now. They werent aware a fallen large tree brought down a high voltage wire on our block and is resting on it like a sling shot. Its been cordoned off and usually they clear that sort of thing first. But this was a massive outage and it slipped through the cracks. They know about it now but I dont expect it to be cleared until tomorrow.

So, no Oscars and, worse, no Victoria for me tonight. No tv or internet.

But also no power to the washer and no way to open the door. It's a synthetic load with sport wash and was done on warm. So dont expect it to get cooked. I'll justbrewash and then run the cleaning cycle. But the washer is drained.

I'd love to hear how this turns out. Was it just an oversight during the manufacturing of the washer or was it refurbished?

I find it strange that Miele would skip this test during quality checks.

I guess it could be overlooked until you need that yellow pull tab.
