It had been over 2.5 years and we still are not done!
Comments (21)Wow....you guys have my sympathy! We bought our land in the Fall of 2005 and then spent about a year working with our architect, making all our material selections, getting all the permits in order, etc. Spent about another year interviewing builders and eliminating all of them after coming very close to signing on the dotted line with two different ones. After two very frustrating years, we were about to give up and put the land up for sale when our neighbors advised us to contact the builder who built their house, an Amish contractor who had so much business from referals that he never advertises and has his own crews. He had a waiting list over a year long, but because of our wonderful neighbors, and because he really liked our house design, he moved us up the list. We broke ground on July 10th, 2008, and exactly 92 days later, we had a 3400 sf, two story, Craftsman style farmhouse with a walkout basement, a sunroom, screened in porch, and huge deck. We have gorgeous custom made cherry cabinets, doors and trim, granite countertops, hardwood floors throughout the whole house, and every detail was finished to absolute perfection. Everything was done on time and to our very exacting standards and I couldn't be happier. Our punchlist had just two items on it - both just very small things like moving a switch or two and some touch-ups. I'm telling you all this because I know how many people have bad building experiences with delays and contractors who don't seem to care what a schedule is. There are GOOD builders out there, even in these times. I highly recommend Amish builders if they build in your area. They are extremely efficient, work from sunrise to sundown 6 days a week, and dont waste either materials or your money. Good luck to all of you with your builds....See Moreno tabs with Miele DW express wash?
Comments (4)The express wash on my Miele Diamante Plus has a 5 min prewash, 5 min main wash (dispenser door opens), and 5 min rinse with rinse aid, followed by drying. I've tried to use it, but since it only has a 5 min main wash, it is far too short to really clean well. It would be better if it was made to wash for 20 min. So if I need something washed clean and faster, I would use the Standard program and select the turbo button, but even then it is 1hr 30 min total (down from 2 hr without turbo). But 99% of the time I use the Pots Pans mode since it is the most thorough wash program, even though it takes a little over two hours including drying, but I run it at night....See MoreNewest Miele Tabs 2016/2017
Comments (5)Just wanted to give an update. When I replaced my 8 year old (dead) Miele Dishwasher with a new model two years ago, I got a free 1 year supply of Tabs (Miele promo). Since I cut them in-half, it was really closer to 2 year supply. Since I ran out a month ago, I went back to using the Method Smarty Tabs Unscented (half-tab) for a while, but just ordered a new Miele tabs from Amazon. Theses tabs are different than the ones from before, and the ones I was sent from the Miele promo. Before they came 20 in a box, and 3 boxes were inside of another box. But now it's just one single box with 60 tabs in there. After using them a few days, I started to notice a "bleach" chemical smell inside of the dishwasher, and also on the plastic cups I drink water out of. I looked at the box of new tabs, and it says they are made in the Netherlands. I think the ones I had been using said Austria or Germany on the box. But regardless, there had to be a change, as I've never had this type of chemical smell from any of the Miele tabs (yes they are still two blue layers with a white layer in the center)....See Morefront load washing machine Electorlux 1.5K, speequeen $2k Miele $2.5k?
Comments (27)OK! Speed Queen, delivered and installed, all taxes, "in the house sitting where is needs to be with old machine gone" price: $2,812.57 - (Canadian) this one https://ca.speedqueen.com/products/front-load-washers.aspx?mn=AFNE9BSP113CW01#build-your-own Has induction motor! Wow! That is real - deal thinking -cap on engineering- 5 year all in warranty and designed for 20 years. Not denying Miele also has some real - deal engineering and I would admit Miele probably even a better build but not a tank like Speed Queen. Miele- excellent but too small for the 120 volt one, and quite a bit of money - I noted comment about doing laundry all weekend. It was at least $500 more and it was tiny. So it was out. Electrolux - suitable machine no doubt about it- more features- very easy to use controls- unlike 'guessing at kind of' on the SQ.. And Elctrolux has alight in it -kind of neat! - and steam clean - an excellent machine. and could be installed for at or about $1,200 all in. So why not Electrolux but Speed Queen? 1, Vastly and self- evidently better build quality; 2, This! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induction_motor...See Morecat_mom
