How to confirm if time to replace tankless coil?

Hi folks - for hot water we have a tankless coil within a Burnham boiler (oil fired). Heat is forced hot water in baseboards (2 zones, typical colonial home). We moved in about 3 years ago. Boiler set up is original - so about 16 years old. I don't believe the coil has ever been replaced.

In short - our domestic hot water is abysmal. It can get hot - but not for long. If calling from more than 1 location it's a joke - both in temperature and in water flow. (note flow for cold water at multiple locations is not noticeably diminished, but hot water is.)

But true test for me is: filling bathtub or hot water in washing machine (only 1 at a time). It will be hot for about 30 seconds - then just luke warm for remainder of filling. When the boiler cycles on - it does get warmer, but almost never "hot" again during filling. I do have the temps on the boiler set at normal temps.

This not keeping up with temperature and severe reduction in flow when calling from multiple locations is making me think the coil has clogged over time. (We do have hard water and need to replace components like zone valves and inlet valves occasionally).

Aside from thinking about lowering the hardness - how can I tell if the coil needs replacement? Should I expect this is an expensive job? I know there are other options in terms of indirect water tank, etc. - but for now would like feedback on the tankless system.

In general - any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
