Comments (3)Wait until spring to see how well they both recover. Citrus are amazingly resilient plants. You might be surprised at how well they recover. Allow the leaves to eventually dry up and fall off. They will be replaced with new flush. Continue watering appropriately, and in February put down your first season's fertilizer and hope for consistently warm weather for a nice flush. Patty S....See MoreCitrus on Zulily
Comments (10)Just for the record... I ordered a Finger Lime. Listing mentioned "includes one live 30"-32" lime tree". What I received was a 7 inch high plant (12 inches with the pot) that had the top part of the stem folded (and snapped) to fit it into 8x8x8 box... This broken part is about a 1/4-1/3 of the whole plant. A bunch of other branches was broken too. The product listing actually included an example photo of a tree, the one I received was nowhere near the size pictured. It has a few years of growing to reach that size. Just beware if you decide to order from them in the future, don't get your expectations too high....See MoreAre any of these products usable for 511 mix?
Comments (7)Here's my 2 cents: If you already own those products then you can make it work. Break up the the chucks of bark, or just pick out what's a usable size and use the cacti mix (which already has lime in it) with your perlite. BUT if you are going to buy new components specifically for this tree, then I would buy different items. Laura is right, you only need one small bag of repti bark, which you can probably find online for not too much (the big bags get costly) or in a local pet store, plain peat with nothing else added is really cheap and any garden center (lowes, HD, walmart) will have it, but you can really sub in most potting mixes, as long as they don't have any wetting agents in them. I personally leave out the lime because it's such a small amount of peat and citrus like acidic soil anyway, but if you want to follow the formula exactly, the cactus and succulent mix already has lime in it, as do most store bought potting mixes. As someone who recently repotted all of my citrus into 511 after moooonths of research and completely overthinking it, take me advice: it doesn't need to be perfect. The trick is to water appropriately for whatever mix you put together and your climate. Also, be gentle when you bareroot your tree, many of mine went into shock and dropped their leaves. Good luck - don't be afraid to ask more questions....See MoreUser
