Thanks. Yes it is quite variegated. I love the white but I fear it may not survive because of it. I try to give it as much light as possible.

I have a marble queen, and when I first brought it home it just kind of sat there. Now it's growing quite well. I'm curious- you have different types of pots you're using. Which type (plastic, ceramic or clay) do you think pothos grows the best?

SaraM - I usually put them in what I have available. The ones in plastic were bought that way and I am trying to not re-pot until the time is better. I mean, I have read on this forum that the best time to do a re-pot/up-pot/transplant is in the summer. I will take the ones that are in plastic and put them in something else in June probably. I like terracotta and ceramic pots. I know that some plants do better in certain types of potting but I think pothos, being so hardy, can be in almost anything. So I try to put them in something I like. Probably the planting medium is more important than the type of pot. I did the 5:1:1 that I read about on here but found some of them wilted too quickly. So obviously my home was too dry or I was unable to water often enough. So now I use cactus and succulent mix 50/50 with large diameter perlite. That has seemed to be the ticket for my plants. I don't have difficult, rare, finicky or troublesome plants though. Mostly pothos and philos.

And yes I love my view with my morning coffee! It will be nice to see it as the season changes too. Right now the lake is frozen and there is snow everywhere. At night when the sky is clear I can see Big Mountain Ski resort, the ski lights going down the mountain, which is about 80 miles away. And the far mountain range that I can see when it is very clear is Glacier National Park, about 100 miles away as the crow flies. I do live in an amazing place!

I have Jade Pothos that I got from my Grandmothers house years ago. I have many of them now and most of them are grown in water.

WOW! What a fantastic collection of Pothos!! They are all so beautiful!! Around here all I ever see is Golden, Marble Queen, and N'Joy. That view is amazing!

That's a great collection, and look to be growing really well, especially against that backdrop through the window. What you refer to as "Silver Satin" however isn't an Epipremnum aureum like the rest. It Scindapsus pictus.

I thought the smaller ones were Scindapsus, that are known as "Silver Philodendron"? The one I have is the one with bigger leaves (I also have Scindapus AKA Silver Philo). The one I am calling Silver Satin is in a pot with Jade Satin that came from the Silver Satin:

"The new variety originated as a naturally-occurring branch mutation of Epipremnum ‘Silver Satin’ (unpatented) in Zolfo Springs, Fla. in June 2007."

Here is a link about Jade Satin that came from Silver Satin and it says they are both Pothos. I think they are both very pretty but very slow growing in my limited experience.

Pothos are my favourite house plant too! Wherever did you find a jade satin? I can't even find silver satin, all I can find around me is the philo satin :(.

I also could not find a Jade Pothos, I just keep propagating the reversions on my marble queen and glacier. I will eventually have enough to make a full plant.

P.S. You should keep your eyes open for Jessenia. It is a new variety of Pothos that I found at Walmart that was grown by Costa Farms. It has yellow/green variegation.

Below is a link to the original post I made on Jade Satin and how I came to have this patented plant. I have never seen it for sale anywhere. In my (limited) experience it is very slow growing but I think it is so pretty!

I did have to order my Jade pothos online last year. But now in my new job there is a large one that I have taken a few cuttings from and am waiting for them to root.

There is someone on here that has mixed pots of philos that I love and I want to do that with some pothos. I would love to have a big pot with Jade, MQ, golden and some variegated like Manjula, Pearls and Jade or others. I know lots of people think pothos are boring or "old fashioned" but a big, bushy, pothos with long vines to me is so pretty. I love outdoor gardening too and where I live, many months out of the year that is simply not possible. So these plants satiate my gardening urges over the winter!

Wow, I've never seen some of those before. I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for different varieties.

Massey, I had another close look at your plant and it does have petioles that look longer than what I'd expect of Scindapsus. So I'd have to agree it isn't Scindapsus. The leaf blade though looks different to what I'm used to with Epipremnum. Now I'm going to have to dive into the 'deep end' of botany and research the distinguishing differences between Epipremnum and Scindapsus so I can sort it out in my own mind - more homework :(.

Patents aren't the best for getting species descriptions, you really need taxonomic descriptions. Now that gets very deep. With aroids the focus is mostly on flower structure as they are notorious "shape-shifters" when it comes to leaves.

Tropicbreezent - if you find out anything about this plant update please. I was really into color genetics of the pure bred cat at one time and loved it. I have often wondered if I would enjoy plant genetics and botany.

Just a heads up, from one Pothos lover to another, Costa Farms has updated their website and now there is a pothos Cebu Blue. Happy hunting :).

Jay Kay - I will have to check that out! It is hard though, waiting until the new plant comes to NW Montana!

edit to add: I just got on the website and looked at it, very pretty! I wish there was some way to order on line or have a local store that carries Costa plants order it in. But I don't think that is an option.
