Help! Where To Move In SE U.S.
Comments (8)NE Georgia sounds like it's not like the rest of GA. Atlanta is not a city I would want to spend any time in. I lived there in mid 70's and that was enough for me. I have a friend living there now and she spends way too many hours in traffic. That's a bit more than 'big city' for me [grin]. I will ck. into the NE area though ... sounds really good and I always liked being a Georgia Girl :-) That's where my husband found me! New Mexico? I love the eastern forests and was born in PA and have always lived on this side of the country except for 4 years in OK. To me it was barren! I am a tree hugger and I can't be in the sun much, so we get a home in the woods. Out west has some nice areas and I love visiting ... but I couldn't leave behind the tree friends that I know and love over here :-)...See MoreTapeinochilos ananassae...where to get in U.S.?
Comments (3)I ordered Wax Ginger from Aloha Tropicals and they sent me a hard to remove weed (Maylay Ginger). They charge a lot for it. I now have found the greatest source for Wax Ginger. They sell it for only $5.00! It is a much better cut and size than Aloha or Banana Tree sells. I would be happy to send you more information on the company in Hawaii that sells to Hawaii and to the U.S. Mainland and you do not need an import certificate. I am not selling anything, but can give you information about the exceptional company that sells amazing quality tropical plants for far less money than anyone else. I want to help them because they have been so very helpful to me. Please put Wax Ginger in the Subject line and e-mail Trish at Filimoehala@hawaiiantel.net for information....See MoreGE Unveils New Fridge from New U.S. Plant
Comments (36)While I was at Home Depot today, I took a look, and they now have the new GE Cafe CFE29TSDSS on display right next to the Profile PFE29PSDSS that has been there since last year. Since I was able to see both next to each other, it's a toss-up as to which one looks better - or has the better features. The Profile has the curved doors & handles, and the hands-free auto fill for water. The Cafe instead is more square (no curves) and the handles look more "industrial". Instead of the hands-free auto fill, the Cafe has a hot water dispenser. While I find this interesting, the knob that you have to turn and push in felt a bit flimsy.. also, I'm wondering how "repairable" the heating coils are and if there is a way to descale them, since it is sealed within the door. When you look up inside the water dispenser, you can see two water hoses, for cold and hot water. Inside of the unit has a new odor remover that has a replaceable carterage and a LED lights that change color in the temp controlled deli drawer. Also, the bins on the sides of the doors are styled a bit different. So it seem that the Cafe has some newer features that are missing on the Profile (odor removal, colored LED in deli drawer, different styled door bins), thought the Cafe has the hot water maker, while the Profile has hands-free auto fill. I'm not sure how much use I'd get from the Cafe's hot water maker, since it only takes 3 min in the microwave to heat water for tea. And how long will the hot water maker last in the fridge before needing service....See MoreMedicare & travel outside the U.S.
Comments (16)chisue - I live in Toronto, Canada. We have an annual plan with AMEX Canada that covers out of country - AND out of PROVINCE. We do have family coverage with my husband's employer and of course our OHIP, but OHIP just won't cover the total costs if we should get sick in the U.S. or say in Vancouver, Canada - and coverage under my husband's out of country office plan would cover us to the maximums covered under their plan - which could maybe be 50% - and out of country medical costs are high. There isn't a chance I would travel to the U.S. without out of country insurance. And, no, if you were seriously injured in Ontario, to the best of my knowledge, you would have to pay - frankly, I would expect you to. We pay high premiums for our OHIP insurance and family coverage through husband's employer - yet many things are not covered. You know what it would cos us if we got sick in the U.S. and I would be terrified of the costs. On admittance to hospital you would be asked for your insurance. Last year in Italy I had to see a doctor - and I had to pay 131 Euros - CASH - note the Cash - to see the doctor and then had to pay for my prescriptions. I then submitted my claims through OHIP, husband's employer and AMEX - all 3 were involved. Many people think that the doctor's visit can be paid by credit card - well, not in every place. So basically do not travel without out of country (state?) medical insurance and trip cancellation insurance (which of course does you no good if your trip is cancelled due to an act of God, an act of civil unrest, a terrorist action, a strike etc.). Also watch out for credit cards that cover your for trip interruption insurance free of charge as most accidents happen before you leave. Just ask any travel agent when they get calls from people who declined coverage and then fell changing a light bulb. But to get back to your original question, why on earth should Canadians pay for medical treatment of people who do not live here, pay taxes etc. and did not take out medical insurance. Just saying......See Morehooked123
