Sabbath, try again. The first episode was hard to get through. The show does get a lot better if you hang in there.

I watched the series and found it a little bit like watching paint dry. The costuming, the acting, and the history kept me interested. It's very much worth watching, I think.

It made me extremely interested in Queen Elizabeth now. To see where she came from was fascinating. Looking forward to the next season.

I plan to watch this show as soon as I finish up other series. Another series that I love is "Reign"--it's about Mary, Queen of Scots.

Margaret to remain as HRH

My hubby and I are big fans (he's British, so there's that..).

Even DH is watching it with me and he usually doesn't like costume dramas. I don't know how accurate it is, but find it interesing to get a peak behind the curtain. We have recorded Victoria on PBS Masterpiece on the DVR but haven't watched it yet.

Loved The Crown. We binge watched it and enjoyed it. I remember many of the details from the news as I was growing up. Last night John Lithgoe and the actress who plays Elizabeth both won SAG awards.

The role of divorce in Elizabeth's life is huge. Her uncle resigns to marry a divorced woman. She cannot let her sister marry her love because he is divorced. Breaks her sister's heart. Then her son, the heir, is allowed to divorce his wife and to marry a divorcee.

The actress who plays Queen Elizabeth does a fantastic job - nice to hear she won a SAG award.

We're watching "Victoria", recorded from PBS. She's just met Albert; we'll watch last Sunday's episode later this week. I'm unimpressed by the acting, and the production budget must have been low. It's weird to see Rufus Sewell as Lord M when we *just saw him* as the Nazi-American Obergruppenwhatsis in "Man in the High Castle" -- which did have good acting, direction and a lavish budget.

I'm old enough to have 'watched live' as Elizabeth II was crowned. I read the headlines of Princess Margaret's dissipated life -- 'denied first love' just one of her early dramas. (It's not easy being Royal.)

The Crown is excellent!

We're through the first season (darn) and are watching Victoria and The Young Pope.

It's not a gripping adventure story but it is well worth watching. I would recommend it.

Wanda, I'll have to check out Reign, although I know the ending, ha ha. I was fascinated with Mary when I was a kid and read a lot about her. Fun2bhere, thanks for the link. It was interesting. I wonder why Margaret didn't marry the group captain?

Sleeperblues, I think she was under a lot of pressure from her mother who thought he was too old for her besides the stigma of his divorced status, but who knows really.

Did all of you watch the movie, A Royal Night Out? It was fictional, but suprisingly entertaining to me.

I am enjoying The Crown also. After digging around on Google, I found that season 2 will begin in November :(.

Sleeper, she needed her sister's approval to marry Peter Townsend, and she would not give it. Government leaders balked and flatly refused.

Did you read the link above, Sheila? Seems to call all of that into question? If I read it correctly, it seems that Anthony Eden and many members of Parliament thought the marriages law was archaic and wanted to change it.

Sleeper, seeing the name Sheila made me think you were addressing me as that's my name too. lol

I'm enjoying it. I have vague memories of watched the coronation on TV. I also remember thinking that Princess Margaret was much more interesting than the Queen.
