Low kitchen faucet pressure with new hot water dispenser tank
Comments (2)Thanks for responding. I took the aerator off, and still the pressure was low. The water has never flowed fast out of the hot water dispenser, so I can't say for sure that its pressure is low, but it does sputter some after I've run it for about 1 minute. I'm really baffled that both the hot and cold have low pressure. Any other ideas?...See Morewater pressure much lower in one side of house
Comments (4)I'm not a plumber but I know that water pressure and service flow rate (SFR) are two different things. You can increase water pressure to 100 psi and easily exceed the volume of water that can be pushed through a specific diameter and length of pipe and not realize an improvement in flow. Plumbing requirements are usually calculated by considering all the fixtures and appliances and the plumbing itself to determine what size the water line supplying the house must be to meet the demand. If all these additions and improvements were made with no improvement to the water service then there might be your problem and should have been obvious to your plumber. Might be that your best move is to call another plumber. Shouldn't be expensive for a journeyman plumber to recalculate the SFR rate that is required by all the fixtures, plumbing, and appliances and tell you that your water service is too small. Maybe one hour to do it or two if your plumber really gouges you....See MoreKitchen Hot Water - house with low water pressure
Comments (10)OK, i take it back. 1st. Before the copper pipe in the house, you may have galvanized pipe outdoors. The municipality has to replace it. ( "... i think its more a problem from the street as neighbors complain as well..." ) If the entire house was a low-flow (or low pressure) problem, this is the cause. It will be felt as a low pressure problem because of the restricted flow. This is called dynamic pressure. But before you turn on the tap, the pressure might be (static pressure). A pressure mater is inexpensive, easy to get at a hardware store, and easy to install. It will help you identify your problem more clearly. Or, you could just ask the city to change the supply pipes, since you and several neighbors all have the same problem. You have to let a fairly large quantity of water flow, in any case, to get really hot water to the sink "for cleaning pots and pans" The need is to get Hot Water to the kitchen. This does not depend on the 1st thing above. If the flow and pressure are low, it will increase the time you have to wait. But nothing will change this for the better. Except one thing: new city supply pipes (outside). The Distance between the kitchen and the hot water source is what determines the amount of wasted water before you get hot water. That, and whether the pipe is 1/2" or 3/4". Where is your tank? It is normal for the first several seconds to feel warm water, not hot. This is because the heat is being lost to the pipe at first. Once the pipe itself gets warmed up, the water temperature at the faucet is much higher. Hope this helps. Comments (3)Haven’t called a plumber yet and resistant. Had a leak around a vent pipe last winter. Called a handyman to fix it and paid him 350 bucks and he didn’t fix it. Called a plumber and they said they fixed bit and charged me 600 and no one fixed the problem. I was hoping to troubleshoot the problem first before calling someone....See MoreC C
