Kitchen Hot Water - house with low water pressure

We have an older house (1938) with low water pressure. We have copper piping - i think its more a problem from the street as neighbors complain as well. In our current kitchen you have to wait several minutes to get hot water to come out. We are moving the kitchen a few feet further from the hot water heater. The project is about to start so this is a last minute thought but I'm wondering if GW members have any suggestions or insight on how to get hot water to the sink for cleaning pots and pans primarily. Our DW seems to work fine. We have the problem through out the house - only the basement bathroom by the water heater is really good hot water and quick. Thanks!
