I have what KristianCO has, but without the wine slots in between. At least at the time, that required ordering a panel that goes between them -- an insulation panel, I think? She mentioned the ice -- another reason I liked the Thermador over the SZ. The SZ had the ice down at the bottom, nearly on the floor. That just doesn't work for all the ice we can use here in Texas. Fori, it's not having a second fridge to make up for the failures of the first one. People who spend $3 million on a house as well as the guest who walk into one expect a certain lifestyle to go with it. Even if they don't cook, they probably entertain. If they don't entertain, they want to look like they do -- or at least they could. In my area, people look for a space for a second fridge in homes by the time they hit $250-350K. By $1 mil, they expect a second fridge regardless of how big the one in the main kitchen is. Beverage fridge somewhere in the house or in an outdoor kitchen is probably also desired if not expected. I've seen homes below $1 mil (at the time) that had built-in fridge, second fridge space in the utility, a wine fridge and a small beverage fridge in the master suite. Those homes are probably between $1 mil and $2 mil now, but they give a clue what folks look for when they reach a certain price point. Yes, you can design for change and tear out a pantry, assuming you also left the upper clearance, and maybe it won't make a mess of flooring and cabinets, but in a $3 mil home, I don't think you are going to save a lot of money in the long run. First, you have to plan the layout to include a tall pantry and cabinet above the fridge that would be lost or have a 12" or greater opening and dress that off. That would all be lost when changing the fridge and you could have the cost of cutting down the above fridge cabinet and doors or a new cabinet. All the crown on that wall will probably need to be removed to change the upper cabinet. Your toe kicks will have to be removed and adjusted. Not a big deal, but another detail. And if any of these trim pieces split when being removed, you have to match trim and finish. This won't break the bank for anyone living in a $3 mill plus home, but it is enough that you can see the savings may be negligible or non-existent. Not to mention that after suffering through an entire build out, the last thing you will want to do is any reno any time in the reasonably foreseeable future. Most folks are exhausted well before the build is done. Ok to do it - but be honest with yourself about the cost, especially if you are not a DIYer.

I went through this last year. So I may be able to help. But a couple things above are confusing me. There are many Samsung Refrigerators, many of them are French Door models, and most of them that I see are Without a Water Dispensor. A quick search gives me RF197ABPN 18 cu. Ft. RF217ABRS 20 cu. Ft. and RF263AEWP White RF263AEBP Black RF263AEPN Platinum color RF263AERS Stainless all 26 cu. ft. and RF266 with AEWP, EABP, AEPN, AERS (as above) all 26 cu.ft. and RF265 ... Prices range from $1250 to $1600. The other thing is "2 evaporators" - i guess you mean 2 condensors, or 2 independent cooling circuits, so the freezer and fridge compartments are separately cooled. In that case you have almost no options available. The few that have 2 cooling circuits AND ARE counter_depth_also, are not French door models. Unless someone knows of Samsungs with 2 cooling circuits. Either that, or you have to modify one of these three criteria.

Andrew, I have a 3 year old KBFS20EVBL3 that is a shallow cabinet depth model. Not the same as yours, but a KitchenAid with French doors. I, too, did not want water or ice through the door and we wanted an easy clean black flat finish. It also hit a $1800 or 1900 price point I think, which fit in my budget. I like the interior layout, the quality of the inner components and the usable capacity for such a small cubic foot fridge. Nothing on the inside broken yet, which is amazing from 4 abusing boys. If we didn't have a fridge in the garage for beverages it would be a rough go for a family of 6. That said, if I had wood floors, it would have ruined them a hundred times over. The drain line is prone to freezing up, depositing water floor side. I deal with it, and flipped flat on my back one time when not thinking about it as a walked by the fridge in the dark one morning. Also, in my case, it sits out the thickness of the doors beyond the cabinet, maybe 2.5 inches, plus the handle depth, into the room. I would certainly not call it flush, but less obtrusive than the mega depth fridges of today. I also had to have my cabinet altered to make room for its height, it was about two inches taller than my 12 year old Amana 25 cubic ft side by side that crapped out one day. Would I buy again? Maybe, but the leaking can be a pain in the you know what, so if the Electrolux doesn't leak I would go that route. Steve

I have a Counter depth Bosch 800 Integra. Side by side. I will say that the CD Bosch S by S held the same amount of food as our SuperBa Kitchen Aid. We were shocked the day we moved all our food into the new refrig. I am still amazed how the German Designers have utilized every bit of space in the CD Bosch. We do have an extra frig. It is not the old Superba but a far smaller one and only about 1/4 of the space is used. A waste of energy. We are a family of 5 with extended family visiting often. We eat veggies, drink juices and use a refrig to it's capacity in the main kitchen. Think about how you eat? Do you use your refrig for fruits, veggies, meats, frozen, drinks, milk, leftovers... This might help you to see how what would work for you. I did happen to see a freezer for $200 at Lowes. I might think about getting rid of our extra and just buying a small chest Freezer. Thinking...
