Ten Reasons I am Afraid to Buy a Front Load Washer - HELP!
Comments (45)I've had a Kenmore front loader for 15 years that has been a great washing machine. It originally cost about $600 in 2001, and has just kept on chugging. Right at the moment, it is dripping a bit from the bottom from a leaking outer tank, but not enough leakage that it doesn't dry out between uses. Since it's on a slab, not a big issue, but I expect to be replacing it within a year or so, Can't really complain about that length of service for what we originally put into it. I'll be looking for another front loader, this one has gotten our clothes clean without damaging them with minimal water use. No smell, but we leave the door and the soap drawer ajar between uses so that they dry out inside. Yes, it does vibrate, but it doesn't rip out pipes and walls or walk around, just makes some noise on fast spin. I haven't got enough money to buy a washing machine that doesn't make any noise. And yes, there's a certain amount of luck involved with any major appliance purchase, and I'm well aware that we've been lucky with this one. Lemons do happen. But you can take a lot of the doubt out (except the probability of getting a lemon *smile*) by doing your research up front. Good luck!...See MoreFront load washer/dryer, would you buy again?
Comments (78)I'm only average height 5.5 and a 1/2..but I can easily reach to the bottom of my TL'er maybe because its an older one, and its on the floor, but that being said my body still gets mashed , almost like I'm getting a mamogram with every load I do..lol...but bending to remove each item from the dryer is worse, I like to fold each piece as I take it from the dryer, warm to pervent wrinkles and it kills my back..than because my laundry room is also a mud room someone always has shoes in front of the machines that I either have to bend over to pick up or trip on them. Sometimes it seems like a constant battle just to survive the mashing and bending/ twisting positions involved in the laundry room. You'd think I was performing circus stunts. * Step up folks, watch the pink lady perform amazing stunts with her boobs and washing machine, adults only*...See MoreNew Front Load Washer & Dryer...need this groups thoughts
Comments (41)I have 15-year-old front loader washer and dryer. We got the pedestals, and I have to say they are nice--I like the drawers underneath where my kids put their dirty socks and other unmentionables after sports practice. I also appreciate not bending over so far to get inside. Mine are one of the original frontloaders and I've had 2 repairs on them that I can remember. They perform very well but I'm careful to use HE laundry detergent and only half the amount, at most. I also don't vary the cycles much so I'm not challenging the electrical components (or so that's my theory). Because of their age, I know we're nearing the end of their lives but I'm willing to do a few more repairs unless they completely break down. I also blow them a kiss and thank them each time they complete a cycle. I swear this is the key. I keep my washer door cracked open a bit when not in use to avoid the smell. It makes sense if you think about it--to keep a FL leak-free during a cycle vs. a TL, the seal must be more tight when closed. A TL still has some air circulation when the lid is down....See MoreTop load washer but raise just the dryer on a pedestal
Comments (16)This would raise it 4.3" and has wheels that lock so you can move it in and out. https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Movable-Adjustable-vibration-WS02/dp/B077T2NGL8/ref=asc_df_B077T2NGL8/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241941495556&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3113598536187913183&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012215&hvtargid=pla-448676366856&psc=1...See MoreKATHY
