Seeding Bermuda grass in (temporarily) failing Floratam St. Augustine

We've had a small Floratam St. Augustine lawn in San Antonio, Texas for about 10 years that we've been have happy with. It takes full sun and requires less water. But because excessive rain and then a couple of nights of 18 degrees after weeks of balmy weather the Floratam is badly damaged. In places where the dogs run the ground is bare. Since Floratam is very vigorous it will probably return, but until it does am considering broadcasting Bermuda grass seeds to fill in. I'd like to get some feedback on the feasibility of this idea and if recommended would welcome suggestions on which variety of Bermuda to use.

Thank you!
