I think I messed up.

I needed a new pressure cooker so I went to the only place we have available to shop in this small area that we have now. When I got home and had the time to read about it, I found it was aluminum. It is still in the box and I am thinking I will have to send away for one because I did not think it would be sturdy enough for me. Does anybody have one of these and are they satisfied,? I guess I am going to have to get used to doing online shopping as my son advises.

Pressure cooker or pressure canner? If you are cooking acidic foods in a cooker, then not so good since the food will have an off or metallic flavor from chemical reaction. If you are canning then it makes no difference since everything is encased in glass.

I have an Instant Pot Electric pressure cooker and absolutely love it. Got it on sale so I am even happier.

I've only grown Flamingo, not White Hull Pink Tip. The mature pod looks like it could be flamingo but seems a bit short. The seed you show does not look like flamingo seed from a mature dry pod. Flamingo seed is beige with dark brown steaks. Also, as the pod develops, it is streaked with pink, the pink doesn't progress from one end to the other. Flamingo pods take a long time to dry down as I recall. So....I'm inclined to say it is not Flamingo unless your seed is still immature and I don't understand your pod color development sequence correctly. I have no idea what the WHPT pods or seed would look like. I'd never turn down more cabinets, but I like your design (assuming you have a place for all your junk of course!). It's not off balance because the window wall isn't part of the cabinet assembly, kinda. You have an island. You have a Wall Of Cabinets and Appliances. And you have nice floaty window unit. It works. I would (and did) put drawers on both sides of the oven. You might want shallower drawers in the smaller cabinet for spices and things, but it's all a personal preference thing. Just be sure you have a spot for all your bulky items. You may be able to stick those things in the pantry. If you want something to the left of the window to balance it (not necessary I think) and there's going to be a bit of wall there as it looks in the picture, just plan to throw up some decorative iron scrollwork or a plate rack or clock or something. I think putting in a small cabinet would look goofy. You'd have to put in enough cabinetry to really shrink that window. And you don't wanna do that!

Missed the other questions---yes, I'd skip the drawer too. Personally I'd never use it since it would be hard to see what was in it. Saw a great kitchen with mixed counters the other day---all cabinets were fir, but they did an island in soapstone and perimeter counters in marble. Worked beautifully. We are mixing wood and stone on two sides of the kitchen, as much for cost as for anything. I'll send some photos of our kitchen when it's done....hoping for Thanksgiving! :) but in the meantime, here's a link to one of my inspiration kitchens for stacking the cabinets. I asked about it here a few months back and got some photos of beautiful taller cabinets, too. We decided to stack because: 1) our cabinetmaker was not charging us much more for two versus one tall cabinet; 2) we wanted to be able to close off the top cabinets and put infrequently used things there so they wouldn't get dusty; and 3) we wanted to use glass, but we have a little kitchen and most of what's in the uppers is not pretty to look at. So we're putting glass in the top cabinets, and will store serving bowls and such up there. We are also only doing uppers along one wall, which helps with keeping it from looking too busy, though. Sure, you can prune pretty much anything. Or you could just leave it, and let nature take it's course. If the plants are close enough together that the root systems are competing, pruning won't help a lot. To the extent the root systems are competing, and there is mutual shading, the plants will just be less productive. If you pull or prune, they will also be less productive, because there is less of the plant left.

It depends on what you are going to cook in it. As Nancy says, acidic foods can have a metallic flavor from the aluminum. However, I have a 6 quart Presto pressure cooker that's at least 20 years old and it's aluminum. Grandma had it along with her "Club Aluminum" set of cooking pans, LOL.

I use mine mostly for things like chop suey, a quick batch of beans, short ribs, beef tips, sometimes pot roast, things that would otherwise take a long time or are tough and need some tenderizing. If you are going to add acidic items like tomatoes that could be more problematic.

The aluminum pressure cooker, though, is plenty sturdy enough, mine has lasted a couple of decades and I use it often. My aluminum pressure canner is older than that.

Aluminum is great for PC. Heats up quick, and light in weight.

Perfectly safe. Mine is about 30 years old.

Before I got an induction stove top and needed a stainless steel pressure cooker, I used an aluminum Presto for over 30 years. My mom had the same kind and used it regularly (at least 40 years) for cooking Greek stuffed grape leaves. And they were cooked in a very lemony chicken broth. Both of us cooked a lot of braises with tomato sauce too, and neither one of us had a problem with acidic ingredients affecting taste.

I had an aluminum PC for many years and got along fine. Sturdiness won't be an issue, but I prefer Stainless Steel and have one today. If you aren't happy, return it and have your son show you how to use Amazon-very easy!
