re-arrange living room or dog house

BIG "discussion" with hubby...where to place the furniture in a room that has minimal wall space, lots of windows and 3 entries. Would like to maintain the entertainment center where-is due to electrical wiring to the outdoors. Only want to retain the other existing two pieces- a wing back chair and right arm chaise. Chair and chaise can be moved anywhere- even out of the room. HELP!!!

I would get a nice rug (if you don't have one already), center it in the room and pull the seating away from the walls. Your drawing is obviously not to scale, so why not post some pics. Usually when there's something visual to work with, it's easier to help.

Pictures of the room would help. What pieces of furniture are you open to purchasing in the event the chaise and chair don't work in the room?

There are a few things you could do here. First off, we think you could easily move your desk so it is facing the living room. Turn your desk a quarter turn to the left and then you would be facing the living room and be able to see out your windows some. It looks like there is plenty of room to do this. If you then wanted a rug, you could get one that would just fit under the area for the entire desk and chair. We agree with moving the TV to the empty wall beside the loveseat. This will free up that area so you can get a bigger book shelf if you'd like. We would then have the loveseat face the TV and move the chair at an angle beside the TV on the right. We think these suggestions might help. Notice desk faces out into room?

Definitely no to two conversation areas, but yes to opening it up and taking advantage of the entire space. I'm not sure how far you are on your selections, but Ethan Allen offers Complementary Design services with your purchase, and I can honestly say working one on one with someone to create a tailored, cohesive space for you down to the exact measurements and circulation of a space plan is very valuable for pieces you want to own and fit for a long time. I like the idea of sofa + 2 chairs or Sectional + 1 or 2 small chairs.... not everything has to match, just balance well!

No space here for a sectional. You might consider a reversible chaise sofa to get the look and to be able to switch the chaise portion from side to side for different arrangements. Really, a 3-seat sofa and two arm chairs would be a better choice.

Marie13100, I mentioned in the beginning we are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and we needed to move the dining table into our living room temporarily and cover everything from the dust. Lynn G, you’re right. Having to look at the wall would be a bit depressing. The most recent floor plan I posted that had the sectional along the window and long wall would be perfect because we can view directly outside the patio door which is in the dining room.

Thank you- reposted missing 2' and changed room size to 22'. Posted 2 pics - one from kitchen opening and one from foyer opening. New couch (s) chairs willing to purchase. Sorry- couldn't get pic to rotate.

That room is a toughie with the multiple entrances and windows! I'm not very good with this kind of thing, but what I do is use some of those furniture coasters that you put under each leg in order to easily slide furniture around, and then just play with moving things around to various locations. If you don't have a sofa you can play with, what about getting a large piece of cardboard (or tape a few pieces together) to lay on the floor in place of a sofa with dimensions you think would work?

I see you are open to buying sofa an chair, but are you looking to add more furniture to the chaise and chair, or possibly replace them altogether? I ask because I'm not so sure both the chaise and a sofa will work in that room. Do you actually use the chaise? Do you spend a lot of time in front of the TV? Would it make sense to have a couple of chairs on the wall below where the chaise is shown for a conversation area, and some sort of furniture facing the TV or fireplace?

Thank you for your comment. We have a sectional patio set that we are going to bring inside to play with. We do not use the chaise or the chair- only when company comes over. But, we love to entertain and this is one of the rooms we use.

Usually I try to find a center to the room and line the furniture off that imaginary line....to me I would want a second matching chair and possibly a sofa. Do you use the one arm chaise? I had one and did not, letting it go was better for me.....
