Comments (3)Normally I don't open the sheers, but thinking I might like to on occassion. So if I put the sheers on a decorative rod, how do I hang the drapery panels? My old drapes had a swag valance - very formal - that covered the top of the sheers where the pleats are. Now that would be exposed if I don't do a valance and not sure how that would look with a rod over it that the drapery panels go on. Hope this makes sense....See MoreDrapery hanging question - pinch pleats on rings
Comments (20)I ended up posting my compeleted drapes in a separate thread which I will link below and may answer some of the recent questions above. brutuses: annz is correct. I bought mine at Calico Corners for $7 ea. Just simple white ones that I clipped into the last ring along with the end hook. princesssusan: I am no expert, but can just tell you what I ended up doing and observed by looking at other similar treatments at Calico Corners where I bought my custom ones for my LR/DR. I put a ring in each pleat plus one at either end. budge1: My drapes are from JCP, Supreme, pinch pleated drapes in Silver Sage. I just checked the website and I don't find the colors to be very accurate so if you have a Penneys nearby, I'd check there for the color. I picked them out in the store, but it was a catalog order. See: http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?DeptID=25437&CatID=28503&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=130d3d2&ProdSeq=1&Cat=pinch+pleat&Dep=Window&PCat=Drapes&PCatID=28498&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=17&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0amp;RefPageName=CategoryAll%252Easpx&RefCatID=28498&RefDeptID=25437&Page=1&CmCatId=25437:28498:28503 As for the sheers, they are called: Lisette Pinch-pleated sheers in soft gold. I think they may be discontinued now as I didn't see them when I checked the website, though saw this: http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/Products.aspx?ItemID=13aea97&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=SIZ&ShowMenu=T&ShopBy=0amp;SearchString=Lisette&RefPage=SearchDepartment.aspx&CmCatId=SearchResults&Search1Prod=True Again, I'd check with your local Penneys. Comments (16)You can certainly use colored sheers behind drapes. Look through JC Penney and you will see many, many combinations. But it seems to me that what you really want is to darken the room a bit. I don't think the dark window treatments are going to accomplish that. Beige walls and carpet and a white fireplace are not going to play well with your dark on dark window treatments. Since new paint is not an option, put some big stuff over that beige paint. You want to spread the dark/forest look around the whole room at eye level rather than going for a sudden blast of it on two small windows. I don't know what is on your walls. But I think you could bring the outside in by choosing some woodland fabrics and using them to cover some large canvases. Or you can frame some large sections of wall with molding and either put fabric in the center or paint just that area. I'm assuming you don't want to paint because you've got that big two story high room in a large open concept area...painting the whole thing is a big deal. So don't paint wall to wall, paint big sections that can be the background for any art you hang....See MoreShould sheer curtain length match drapes?
Comments (13)I didn't want a pair of sheers because of the ability to accidentally leave an opening. My goal is to let light in, while being able to change without closing the curtains. In our last house, we had wooden blinds (regular size) and honeycomb blinds. A couple of those were cordless and they stopped working after a while, so I'm not keen on cordless. I don't mind the continuous loop versions. I'm intrigued by the idea of blackout fabric roman shades with sheer solar panels underneath, but that's not in the budget right now. (We're in the middle of a major kitchen remodel!) My husband is OK with getting more sheers for the room now, and changing it up later on when we decide what to do. There is no room in the current windows to attach any type of hardware. Not even tension rods. Anything would have to be mounted outside, but we don't want to poke more holes right now. Windows will be new construction windows, so the whole thing will be replaced....See Morek9arlene
