serious concerns about Heirloom Roses....
Comments (114)When Heirloom Roses first announced that they would offer the gallon size, they said it was due to customer feedback asking for more mature roses. Here's the link to the original video: One Gallon Roses. Heirloom Roses changed ownership several years after this thread began. I've only have experience with them under the new ownership. I've been pleased with their well-rooted bands. However, I will receive a gallon size Julia Child this fall, because they were out of stock of the band size. I'm anxious to see the difference....See MoreProblems finding roses this year...anyone else notice this?
Comments (5)our local nursery(s) had DA and Jackson & Perkins but the local Lowe's mostly had flowercarpet and knockout, etc... I heard Jackson & Perkins was having some problems...? (ie insolvency or something? ) I don't know, don't take my word for it. They're still shipping and selling, etc. so. But maybe they have less big-box store presence. I order most of my roses online anyway so that I have more choice....See MoreAnyone Else Experience Late Summer Crispies?
Comments (15)That's brutal Dax. I can imagine how that would feel, must be awful. The good thing is that you're so active and so stocked with plants no doubt you'll find more cool plants down the road. The weather here in the Pacific Northwest has been strange, but pleasant for plant growing. We've had a wonderful stretch of very(VERY) dry weather, with highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 40s. This week we've had a streak of 80 days, which is remarkable(record setting for this time of the year), in that we had a TOTAL of 5 days above 80 degrees at my house until September and tomorrow will be the 5th day of 80 in September. I have lost some plants, mostly because of our very wet Spring, so I'll post a few of those sad stories to make those roasting out there feel at least a little bit better. -Will...See MoreAnyone else disappointed in Endess Summer?
Comments (26)Ok, I live in Maine, and my endless summers bloom every year since I planted them three years ago. I agree Annabelles are almost fool proof in growing hydrangeas. I also have Nikko Blues too, but have to cover both the Endless Summers, and Nikko blues for the winter. Yeah, I know that ES bloom on old and new wood, but protect the old wood from frost, and you will be rewarded. ES has more blooms then Nikko Blues but the mopheads are smaller, but Nikko Blues are still my favorite hydrangea. People drive for miles to see my pretty blue flowers, and I love it too. But it's a chore to cover them for the winter. I use Pvc pipes for a frame, and mill felt from the local paper mill, which I attach the felt to the pvc frame with wire ties. Endless Summers are a great hydrangea, just take care of them. Phil in Maine...See MoreCori Ann - H0uzz violated my privacy
