The Pocket of Pigeon Mountain in Georgia would not be a long drive for you. It's considered by many to be the finest wildflower site in Georgia based on the diversity and concentration of spring wildflowers. An early trip (third week of March) should give you a display of masses of bluebells and celandine poppies. This site has large populations of Trillium decumbens and flexipies and lots more. If you go once you will want to return at a different time to see the ones you miss blooming. It's an easy day hike. You can spend two to four hours or explore further on some adjacent trails. At this junction turn left onto Hog Jowl Road and go 2.6 miles, passing Mt. Herman Baptist Church. At the top of the next hill, turn left onto Pocket Rd. and drive 1.2 miles until the road ends. Park in the Pocket Trailhead parking lot on the left. There was a sign at the Pocket Road/Hog Jowl Road intersection but last spring it was damaged and I don't know if it's been fixed.

As you pointed out in your previous comment, the farmer gives his 'informed consent' when choosing whether or not to buy and grow GMO seeds. However, the final consumer of those goods has no such informed choice available to them. All of us, as consumers, in all practicality are forced to consent without readily available information. I think the term, as I used it, is quite self-explanatory. The same people who use the ideas of Capitalism to defend their business practices are often loath to participate on a level playing field. Instead of making all details and conditions freely available to each party involved in a transaction, and thus offer each free agent the opportunity of informed consent, these GMO companies are snake oil salesmen hiding behind consumer ignorance. Companies like Monsanto use the political system to hinder efforts by consumers to have GMO labels readily available and enjoy their opportunity to give informed consent at the supermarket checkout. They are quick to point out that farmers give their informed consent when choosing to buy and grow GMO seeds, but they fight, in every avenue possible, against allowing consumers that same privilege. Therefore, my use of the term 'informed consent capitalism' is meant to expose the hypocrisy of those companies who claim they were playing fair by offering 'informed consent' when selling to the farmer ("he/she/it knew what they were buying and chose to abide by the terms of the agreement,") but again, they reveal their hypocrisy when the consumer simply asks for the same opportunity! Again, it seemed pretty self-explanatory. I didn't think I would have to write a dissertation on a garden forum debating the huckster practices of a behemoth corporation.

Both lobelia and sweet alyssum (Lobularia maritima) are quite shade tolerant and fast and easy to grow from seed. And they will nicely compliment most other shade annuals that are larger and more easily planted as starts, so you can do some of both :-)
