Comments (2)Heartbroken Check with your state & see if they will go back & pick up that doctor bill. I just looked up your state. Girl you need to get out and vote, those politicians sure aren't helping the little people of Oregon. http://www.chn.org/pdf/factsheets/Oregon.pdf They're cutting your programs. I found this site for you. Good Luck. http://www.cwla.org/ Child Welfare League of America Children's advocacy organization active in lobbying and humanitarian projects in the US. Comments (7)I have a dog who has seizures. He usually has them early a.m. (5 am? usually) and I have 2 others. One of them in particular - Ginger - has vivid dreams. Or at least I think she does. She just seems to chase rabbits in her sleep -- or other dogs -- or squirrels -- or cats... you name it. Ginger just seems to have vivid dream states, much like humans do. Her background indicates she had little human contact in her early youth, and spent more time in the wild than my other two dogs. So her dreams are just how she's wired. But they are by no means a seizure. You just have a dog with a big imagination or a really good memory :) I'd love to know what she is dreaming about, but that rapid running foot movement and nose snarl in her sleep tells me she is having lots of fun. I've woken her up during them (you WOULD NOT be able to do that if it were a seizure), and she's lifted her head and given me a look as if to say, "WHY did you wake me up???? I was having FUN!" And then promptly lay back down and go back to sleep. I think she is her own dog....See MoreAm I the only one who can't sleep? Hope you don't mind me Venting
Comments (16)ilene-84, Happy Birthday to your Dad! Is he a WW II vet? I hope all the medical issues are behind you and your family now. Spring is around the corner and it's such a great time of year. And, I'm sure when your kitchen is all done, it will be great simply because it has been a labor of love. It's good to know I am not the only one sleeping terribly. I wake up every day with a terrible headache and neck pain. I also wake up in the middle of the night repeatedly adding up cabinet sizes, trying to make a list of events of what should come next, what goes and doesn't go, if I do this then I have to do that and the infamous DID I MAKE A MISTAKE and what are my options now if I decide to change the layout. I started keeping a pen and paper on the night table to be able to jot down the ideas and make notes. However, one kitty is a pen thief, the other is a paper tearer. So when I get up to find the pen, big doggie has to come over and inquire as to what I am doing but more so to make sure he is not missing out on a food tidbit. Then DH starts in, what's wrong, is everything okay . . . it's so pitiful I have to laugh because I would cry. Now I try to get back into bed and find out that another kitty has stolen my warm spot and I just can't bear to move them so to the couch for me where I wonder, I just left that bed with all of them so how did we fit on there before! At least I'm off the kitchen biz. So much for the couch idea. There is usually the shy rescue cat there who so prefers DH to me. Then if I manage to lay down, it's impossible to get my back comfortable but then I finally fall asleep out of sheer exhaustion and then there is DH waking me, come back to bed, you know the couch is no good for your back. Argh . . just leave me be! This is a daily routine for us. I almost want to quit my day job and get a night job just so I don't have to go to sleep. I am sure also that the massive amounts of junk food I am eating is not helping the situation either. I am actually craving veggies so I don't know what that says about the diet. But in the end I will have a nice enough kitchen that I have built out of a labor of love. I am so looking forward to cooking again for us so hang in there! Christine, thanks for sharing your perspective on things. I must say you must be one strong resilient woman! You go girl....See MoreAAAaaaaargh! I can't sleep
Comments (44)Yes, I decided to face my sleep issues head on a while back. I went in for a couple of sleep studies and discovered to my shock that I had numerous episodes of apnea....I had no idea! But I also knew that I had insomnia, as well. That was the difficult nut to crack! I had to find a sleep specialist, someone trained in resolving sleep problems unrelated to apnea. It took a couple of years of trial by error, sleep diaries, making changes to my bed, my bedroom, my bedtime habits.....all of which helped. But the clincher came when my very patient and thorough doctor taught me how to do deep breathing and thought clearing exercises. Sitting in his office, in a chair, I could drop my pulse rate significantly within five minutes. After that, I never had a sleepless, anxious night again. I do the deep breathing meditation every single night. All told, I have a new, much needed mattress, a new pillow, a dark and cool room, no naps allowed, a routine bedtime, no alcohol after dinner, and the deep breathing thing. Edited to add that apnea and insomnia are different issues. The doctor I went to for the sleep study was not trained in nor even very interested in my other sleep problems. I had to seek and find a phychological specialist. We had to deal with nightmares, anxiety, terrible habits, etc. Now, I fall asleep within five or ten minutes and sleep all night other than one bathroom break...deep breathing exercises put me straight back to sleep....See More- 7 years ago
