KitchenAid & Jenn-Air SlideIn Induction Range Availability
Comments (8)I had ordered a Kenmore Elite model 42623 induction range, but it got damaged in shipment. Before ordering a replacement, I did some research on other induction ranges and really liked the KitchenAid KSIB900ESS, so I ordered it on sears.com for full retail price, which I never do! Sears gave me a 7/26/2016 delivery date, which seems kind of a long way out. So I did some more searching around the web for info on this model and found this forum. I had no idea about the "history" of this range getting into the market so eager buyers could actually purchase it! Despite the delay, I'm going to keep my order open. I'm a little concerned that Lowes and Home Depot list this range as "discontinued"? I hope that isn't true. I have a favorable opinion of KitchenAid, am eager to get induction, and like the specs for this range. But what really has me willing to wait is the sleek and gorgeous styling of this range! No obtrusive knobs, it has a minimalist glass top without the thick printed circles, great oven handle design, all stainless exterior, ... just an A+ to me....See MoreInduction Slide-In Ranges?
Comments (11)In the end, we went with the Dacor. Ain't she a beauty?:But seriously, I have no complaints. The cooking is incredibly responsive and the clean-up is just a dream. I do wish that the burners (hobs) were laid out a bit differently, so that we could more easily use larger pots and pans in conjunction with one another. If the hobs were staggered a bit, and the controls for the hobs didn't take up so much space, the cooktop could be used more efficiently. But I've managed to change up the way I structure my recipes so that in the end it works out. Having read my original post, I notice I was worried about the placement of the controls for the oven... that has not been an issue in the least. The buttons for the oven are clearly marked and there's no bending down needed to find what you need. One luxury feature on this range that I really enjoy are the easy-glide oven racks. Don't know that this feature would lead me to make a completely different choice, but I've never had them before and I'm loving them. Hope that helps!...See MoreTwo questions about KitchenAid induction range
Comments (34)I have a entry level Kitchen Aid built in induction cooktop. It is set in over a Whirlpool oven because this is my forever home and I hate pulling the stove out to clean the floor. It works for me. I chose the cooktop after reviewing clients' experience. It also is safe for my young grandchildren to use. I like the lock feature on too. I purchased the patterned glass to hide minor scratches. The cooktop makes no noise at all because I use very heavy laminated pots and pans. I just picked up the ones I wanted at Winners. I learned from working in the industry, it's about the pots more than anything. I like cast iron but I don't use them because of scratching. I use parchment paper between my ancient wok and it scorches the paper but at least the top stays clean and not scratched. I also have tried the paper on the surface when flipping in a fry pan. It works great. I seldom use the higher settings because the residual heat in the pans does the work. I often shut off pasta and veggies early. My bridge works evenly because the pans are heavy. My blue roaster was a disaster on the bridge and burned on low heat. Proof it's about the pan. My only concern was that the magnets were damaged with shipping but they were replaced right away. I believe it has more to do with going through customs from the USA than anything else because it seems to be a common repair with CDN clients. Not a deal breaker but wish they would just assemble on site if my hunch is right. Overall I'm pleased with this purchase. It has given excellent performance. We have used it for 3 years now. I cannot say the same for premium brands that others have purchased or I have used on vacations. One note is be prepared to learn how to boil a soft egg again. I finally am consistent....See MoreKitchenAid induction range -- burner controls (KSIB900ESS)
Comments (1)You can slide or just touch the sliding control and it will adjust it. You don't have to slide your finger. I have had a learning curve with mine because if you have more than one burner on and you touch the sliding control, it will adjust the last burner you were messing with--which may not be the one you wanted to turn up or down. You have to touch that burner's control and then the slide control. It's not a big deal, but for me--it's a learning curve. Even with this, I absolutely LOVE this stove. It's easy to clean and I love how quickly it cooks....See Moremayhemingway
