Wide angle lens = home disappoints?

Many online listings show photos taken with a wide angle lens. Today we went to an open house to see in person, and what appeared to be a spacious 2200 sq ft was actually rather small & choppy.

Should I just assume that if the photos are wide-angle the home will feel cramped? Conversely, listings of home with standard photos often look small and nothing special, and I'm less interested in seeing the home. How can I overcome the photo bias?
