Trash pullout under sink?
Comments (16)Thanks so much for all your ideas and encouragement. I really think a pullout will work in my space and make good use of my sink base which might otherwise not be very functional. I am doing Ikea cabinets right now in my laundry room and am planning to try a pullout trash bin under my sink there, so I will have experience with Ikea's components before I start my kitchen. The handles I chose for my Ikea cabinets in the laundry are simple pulls that fit over the edge of the door and are screwed into the inside of the door. I was planning to center them on the top edge of the cabinet door. They may work for my kitchen as well, if I go with stainless, contemporary style pulls for the rest of the cabinets. Here is a link that might be useful: Here's the Ikea handle...See MoreTrash pullout under sink
Comments (17)We have the small under sink trash cans from Ikea. We are also empty nesters and although there are instances when one of us is at the sink and the other wants to access the cans, it just doesn't happen that often. I just can't see giving up an entire cabinet for trash. Our ikea containers are smaller than annkathryn's and mounted in a pull out that fits the 2 containers - front for trash, back for recycle. I personally like having the smaller waste cans; I empty them every morning when I go out with the dog and they are the perfect size for grocery bags, no need to buy trash bags....See MoreDrop in farmhouse sink? Will I hate it? Ikea Domsjo double
Comments (21)We have the Domsjo double sink and it is absolutely amazing. No complaints what so ever. It is huge, and exactly what we wanted. Don't mind sliding crumbs into my hand and just throwing them into the sink. 3 extra seconds. big woop! There is a HUGEEE cost savings with using the Domsjo sink. So the sink is 27x37 inches. That is 7 sqft. If you were getting an undermount sink, you'd have to buy the slab that goes across the sink PLUS pay for them to cut a hole in it. So assuming a granite/quartz around $60, the sink cutout just cost you $420 for the material to cut, plus $150 for the cutout labor. So about $600. Plus the cost of a comparable sink (at minimum $500-600). So, the Ikea Domsjo is $312 and no cost of cutout or the material to cut out of. Whereas you are at $1100 minimum for undermount. SAVE YOUR MONEY and use it for awesome countertops, backsplash tiles, better appliance, etc. :)...See MoreRecommended trash bins for IKEA Sektion SE BP1D?
Comments (67)I see a few more requests looking for tall bins that fit 15 wide ikea cabinets. Can you believe after all this effort, recycling pick up is no longer offered for my address! 😢 ive been using the 2 bins I bought and installed quite awhile back They are still working out great. i was going to make something similar to what a few others did but ended up finding these. Witt Industries 13R Plastic 13-Gallon Rigid Waste Liner, Square, 11" Width x 11" Depth x 20" Height, Black. got them 1/2 off on AMZ warehouse deal very thick strong commercial use plastic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005QNOFES/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TAcHDb3D23QJK AMZ often has them as unavailable in that size, but you can find them elsewhere online mine did not have any dents/defects. Note that these are commercial grade liners to go inside a metal trash can vs a polished plastic meant to be placed out in your room. You can see pics in my Akurum ikea 15 inch base if scroll dowm the posts I have the 1st bin, raised up by about an inch to account for the slight flare at the lip and that makes them fit perfectly using all availble drawer and height space, while still allowing for my shallow drawer. I should note that I did not install the upper rod of my lower drawer that my trash cans sit in. I never got around to it and with both cans in, it actually makes that drawer and door fromt super stable - door front doesnt move and is perfectly vertical. mine are the older line, akurum, with similar but not identical specs. if needed I can measure further up the trash bins height, for the width I dont believe they flare out any, until the very top where there is a slight flare in where the lip area is, but can double check if needed....See MoreLisa
