I didn't notice anything other than the hawk when I took this pic..do you see a blurry spot in the tree?..if you zoom in it seems like a squirrel..I did NOT add it to this pic..not tech savvy..wouldn't even know how..just wondered what you think..weird isn't it?..

Comments (5)I have squirrel problems too. One thing that has been pretty good for me are white fabric hairnets, also called bouffant caps - the kind they use in clean rooms. I'll use a larger round pot and plant several seeds about 1" apart or whatever in it. I also top off with chicken grit if I think the seedling can compete with it. Then I stick a chop stick in the middle, put the hairnet over it (they are reusable BTW and last from year to year). Then I put a rubber band around that. It doesn't heat up like plastic, it lets the rain in and keeps the seedlings from drying out, keeps them from being crushed by water, keeps them from scorching in full sun. You can also water through them. Open it up once and a while for circulation if it's particularly damp out for a few weeks. The hairnets will stay on without the rubberbands but animals might take them to make their nests. Here is a link for this type of cap, though I am not sure what brand I have. Comments (5)I used a hoe to slowly pull the wood on the ground on the right away (from where it came from). The wood on the left end should have been burned last winter. Both batches and all over a year old will be burned in 2-3 weeks (oldest first). Re stocking is well on the way since I have at least a 3rd cord of Pecan in my trailer. It will have to be green wood and close for me to bring any restocking until I see what I need. A little research showed Squirrels reproduce Feb-Apr and Aug-Sept as when 2 litters (2-5) are expected. I’ll work away from the almost stocked right end (that I think could be trouble now). I am anxious to see inside my 14” ID Chimney Pipe due to burning less than a year old Red Oak trying to hold some colds overnight (choking off as much air as I have control of). Separating the Seasons is becoming Challenging. LOL I am getting my best rest “Now” since I have All Morning to get My Energy Walk (2 mi X 5 Days) and Chores Done (3 days 2-3 hrs of real work). Comments (10)I hope mama and baby are OK. I hate crows. Just like you Ingrid, I got sick of dead bird parts in my fountain because of them. Luckily, mama and daddy magpies, scrub jays and doves chased them out of my yard on a permanent basis. Their reward for doing that? Fresh, home grown figs! One of the saddest things I saw on my way home from work was a dead adult squirrel laying on its back at the edge of the road. There was a much younger squirrel behind the dead squirrel's head, with its hands underneath the dead squirrel's arms, trying to lift it to safety. The dead squirrel was too big and too heavy for the young squirrel to lift and carry. It could only raise the dead squirrel's shoulders up and down. I still burst out in tears when I think about it. samnsarah..no but I looked it up..we call our tiny tailed squirrel Nubby..he's so cute..looks like a bunny..our squirrels are like dogs..this pic is not Nubby..he's shy and only comes about 10 ft away but 4 are very friendly..
