Pink trumpet vine - invasive?
Comments (6)The 'other' vine is Pandorea jasminoides 'Rosea' whose common name is Pink Bower Vine. It hails from Australia and will grow in Sunset Zones 16 - 24 (the Phoenix valley is in Zone 13). I've seen it for sale at many of the home improvement stores and sometimes mislabeled Pink Trumpet Vine. Just check the botanical name to be sure you get the right one. It's grown locally by Mountain States Wholesale Nursery so it should be easy to find at nurseries. Comments (6)One thought is to use those motion-detecting sprinklers! Wouldn't that give thieves a surprise to be suddenly drenched! And you can also crowd in barberry plants and other prickery types that might slow them down. What a shame to have to worry about this sort of thing. I've been amazed to see how many of my neighbors have unplanted things sitting in their front yards. Hopefully none of them have been stolen yet. Another idea: Put out a sign that says: THIS YARD PROTECTED BY LARGE RAT SNAKES! That would be true in my case. I have 2 of them prowling around. :oD...See MoreThings You Plant around the Base of a Palm?

Comments (24)I know this is an old post, but just thought I'd share, yes, the thief was caught. I caught her when I recognized her stealing a couple days later at the shop next door. I actually had just had pleasant conversation moments before with her in store. She was quite disarming, sharing all sorts of personal info, including where she lived! She seemed vaguely familiar, but couldn't place her. When I went out to my car, it finally clicked when I remembered seeing the original post on FB from FG, and realized I was parked next to her distinctive, very expensive truck, which they also had posted. She was even wearing the same shirt!! Then I noticed she was taking large numbers of small items from the back of the place and tucking them down under the backseat. I was right next to her, watching. She even smiled and waved. Realizing she wasn't coming from the area where you normally exit, I went back in to ask if she had paid for them, long story short, the sheriff got a hold of her. Turns out she was nothing more than just a bored, compulsive thief. Her husband was at his wit's end. I believe FG was able to recover the stolen plants from her yard, still in their pots....See Moredirtygardener73
