tile selection for bathroom, part 2
Comments (2)I like the concept ... but I have one question: Are you going to use bath mats (for comfort)? If so, will they look good with the built-in tile floormat? I definitely like the first tile best -- the Golden Around tile -- because it's warmer and brings out the brown/golds in the Mexican tile. I like the second one -- Marfil -- least. Definitely a darkish brown vanity, and since the tiles are bold and patterned, keep it simple -- and match your countertop to the flooring. Though I like beadboard, I would not use the beadboard vanity on the far right; it doesn't match with the feel of the tile....See MoreTrying to select bathroom tile and countertop
Comments (4)few ideas for the vanity if staying w/the vintage look. get an actual walnut mcm piece and modify it. Cut off the legs, mount to a stud, cut a hole for plumbing. if you have room, do it like this. best thing is to do a wall mount faucet for your dresser. get a remnant stone piece and have it cut for the sink (that you will fit in a drawer) or, if you're a bit handy, get some Plyboo (bamboo plywood) and make your own counter/vanity. make a mirror frame and shelves while your at it. I've used this plyboo to make my own platform bed/headboard and nightstands. the stuff is great! as for the tile, do a hex of some sort, pennyround, subways, or the 4x4 as mentioned. CleTile.com as some beautiful 4x4 tiles that are reasonable. Fireclaytile.com,,,also great choice,,a bit more expensive. CleTile your shower w/the window is great. could you bring it out another few inches to give you a bit more room? Do away w/that corner seat/shelf. the other option is to put in glass where the wall is between the vanity/shower. you could relocate the plumbing. even if you only got a small portion of glass, it would help lighten up the room some more. check out these cool porcelain tiles for the floor (or the shower). they come in blues/and whites/grays as well as the black. black looks good w/a walnut vanity. do your shower tile in a vertical stack, glazed tile like this: or in the 4x4 or regular subway, like this...See MoreHelp me with my bathroom floor tile color selection.
Comments (16)If you retile the floor, it enables you to increase your Zillow listing value - under the category of last year remodel. Yes, you could leave it and allow the new homeowner to do the work themselves, but with so many wanting "move-in ready" ..... (And....Let's face it, most younger homebuyers were at soccer practice or playing video games, rather than helping with yard work or car/ home repairs. So, they know nothing about "how to" around the house,). New Tile Color-. I'd pick a light/-medium gray tone in the countertop. Black will show lots of dust, White might be hard to match to your cabinet color. Perhaps the one closest to the tub? It hard to tell the color for certain. What at color is the bathroom wall? If white, then paint trim to match gray floor....See MoreNeed help selecting porcelain tile for bathroom.
Comments (5)Thanks Skippack. Is very expensive to cut tiles? I thought retro was coming back — a return to the classics... but modernized. I know the marble look is very “in” now, but it is also retro and classic. Given my inspiration photo, what else would you suggest? I’m afraid to pick a wood look tile for the bathroom because I haven’t picked out the wood color for the adjoining room and I wouldn’t want the two to clash....See MoreRelated Professionals
