Dip Into a Watery Blue Bathroom
Relax and Refresh in a Soothing Bath of Blue, Turquoise or Aqua
For a refreshing bathing experience, surround yourself with watery blues. These nature-inspired colors are associated with the varied hues found in the ocean and with feelings of calmness, tranquility and healing. Let's take a look at some baths that have been done so well, they may trick you into thinking you are on vacation.
Here is the bath of my dreams, one I would never want to leave. With a luxurious infinity tub and a sparkling jewel-like shower, this room will take your breath away, then instantly relax you. The tub is from Kohler and the tile is a custom glass mosaic blend from Trend USA.
Glass mosaic tiles have a wonderful reflective quality and when done in shades of blue and green, they really look like water. You are literally surrounded by them here. The tub rests on a glass pedestal, making it feel even more special.
There is a reason spas often use soft aquas in their spaces. They have a calming effect and relax you even before you get pampered. In this soothing bath, the tub surround and face are covered in pale aqua ceramic subway tile. Dangling capiz shells continue the line around the windows. The floor is done in Ming Green marble mosaic with a stylish coordinating border.
Here is a fun bath that will delight your kids and their friends and make them feel like they are washing up under water. This was done in three layers of marine colors. Like the ocean, the shades are darkest at the bottom and get lighter as you go up. The floor is teal mosaic glass tile, the walls 4" x 4" aquamarine glass, and the top a mix of light aqua paint. Wavy framed mirrors and cute fish complete the look.
This light blue tiled wall follows the curve of the tub and adds coziness to the space.
Here's a shower in a cooler blue. The designer did the floor in iridescent white to ground the space.
One wall in 4" x 4" glass tile creates a great feature. The effect is enhanced by light streaming in through the skylight. Light aqua penny rounds set in white grout look like a frothy shore leading into vivid turquoise waters.
If you prefer to not invest in tile, go crazy with paint. This Mediterranean-inspired bath was painted in a brilliant turquoise. The earth-toned terracotta floor tile and tub add a rustic touch.
A creative architect and designer dreamed up this underwater wonderland with an art mosaic vanity, porthole window, special wall treatment, bubble shower curtain (next), and many other features. He used dark shades of periwinkle blue to create a deep-sea effect.
He made this shower curtain out of blue glass plates from Target. Magical! You can see more of this project here.
