To backsplash or not to backsplash...
Comments (13)Ooooh, you have me a little worried. I am planning a white on white kitchen...but back to the topic at hand. No I definitely don't think a lip of a backsplash is at all unfinished. In fact, i think most houses just have a lip? I wonder if the wall of a BS is a new thing. In fact i just took a quick look at property listings (no I am not a realtor, haha) and the 3 houses I clicked on (close to a million$) all had a lip of a backsplash. I think it is personal preference. And your right it is a dust catcher=). but better to have dust than me rub off my wall every time I wipe my counters down. (good paint may well solve that dilemma) but I do think that it looks naked with nothing. We cook alot ( and I am messy) so I have to have something behind my stove...and personally i do like the full wall of backsplash. If you have soapstone, that may break up the white enough to not make it so stark. You could possibly consider the lip of soapstone and then tile above that....? Best of luck...See More3' granite backsplash needed if plan to tile backsplash kitchen?
Comments (5)With a granite backsplash, you'll still have a seam so it defeats the purpose stated by that granite guy. Only time I see tile over a 3" granite backsplash is when they are done at different times (change in homeowners or you decide to add tile in the future). Most people getting new counters will just tile from the counter up....See MoreYet another Backsplash Decision Cry for Help
Comments (22)I have Fireclay Tile Caribbean in a paseo shape installed in a fountain and I love it. I echo the suggestion above of Nautical or Slate blue - those are stunning blues that will be more subtle than Caribbean or Aegean. Martinique is also an amazing blue installed: In your kitchen, I would also consider the Salton Sea (I have that in my kitchen and loooove it but it's green) or the absolutely divine and subtle Blue Spruce (you must see in person to appreciate) for backsplash tile in a subway or wave pattern even. Comments (20)Eam44, first, thank you for all your help; I really appreciate it. I do have an installer- my contractor selected him and we have been very pleased with all his work in the rest of the house. But I haven’t discussed this with him; I wanted to get things figured out first. I looked at all the pieces above- can’t believe you were able and willing to do this, thanks so much- and I have no idea which ones might be appropriate here. I am aware of the quarter round and it’s not my favorite. Not sure of any of the others. The profilo jolly seems the smallest and therefore possibly the most appealing. (I just showed my husband the painted edge of the tile and he didn’t find it at all objectionable)....See Morebossyvossy
