series wiring in kitchen ceiling pot lights - junction boxes
Comments (5)You certainly cannot wire in 'series' since that'd be dividing the voltage between the additional lights. I presume you mean wiring them in 'parallel' but as part of the same string, on the same switch. I'm not sure what you mean about the junction boxes, if the can is a permitted place to make a splice perhaps, but from how you're describing it, I'd think not. Connections must be made in a designated place, ie a junction box, and they must remain accessible. I suppose 'accessible' would include the jboxes sometimes found on the underside of recessed lights, they remain accessible due to the fact the fixture can be removed, exposing them....See MoreHelp concealing junction box in ceiling
Comments (3)You can take the cover and paint or texture it to match the ceiling. The other trick is to put a junction box FURTHER away in a less conspicuous spot and pull the wire to the new fixture and remove the old box entirely. If you're pulling parallel to the joists, you probably need only make a hole for the new box and fish all the way down. If you're pulling across the joists, you may have to cut more of the ceiling up, but at least you can replace that finished surface....See Moreceiling junction box for light in lathe and plaster?
Comments (3)Not being able to inspect up close at your premises, my suggestion is to support the box independent of the lath and plaster. If accessible from the attic, all sorts of supports can be installed. From and through the box hole, this brace might work for you. Here is a link that might be useful: brace...See MoreBathroom rewiring, junction box ceiling (picture)
Comments (3)Hmmm, is there anyway for me to extend the original wire that's delivering main power (pic link above) to the bathroom so that I can install the junction box on the wall where the new light will be? And from this same junction box wire the exhaust fan and electrical gfci outlet? Or should I just leave these 'old' original wires alone?...See Moreharveyshot
