Finished our small powder room -- I mean small!
Comments (38)Patty-2010 -- I'm just now seeing your message about the picture of the red flowers. I believe it is a Pottery Barn framed print, but I myself got it at a yard sale. Don't you love it? And this should interest people who wonder whatever happens to the decor of rooms that people feature on this site -- I've made a few changes to the bath since I first posted. I'll post a photo when I get home later, but I'll tell you that we did change the hanging light, and I changed the picture. I know I said I never would, but we inherited a small chandelier from my sister in law, so we thought we'd go with a different style. Look for the photo later....See MoreToo small dining room for special occasions....
Comments (2)I used the living room. I pushed the couch against a wall, took all the tables and chairs and scattered them around the house, and put two eight-foot-long banquet tables in the empty space. Around here, Thanksgiving Dinner cannot be eaten outdoors most years! The big TV armoire stayed in the LR, so football fans could keep an eye on the games. In the dining "L", I would put most of the drinks and other odds and ends on the dining table, pushed into a corner. We always had lots of crock-pots going because we had the regular dishes and the vegan versions (no butter, no broth, no cream, no meat, no poultry). Luckily, DH and his sister (the usual vegetarian guests) would eat an UnTurkey, so I did not need to make another main dish, DH just put it in the oven after the turkey came out for carving. I think the most we had for dinner was 17. If it were 12 or so, we would put the two banquet tables together side-by-side and have a large center space for the food....See MoreHelp with small dining room decor/picture updates
Comments (13)@Olychick Thank you for the great advice, neutral is what I’m going for but but a few pops of colour here and there. I agree that I should do artwork instead of another mirror. In fact, I‘ve been thinking of replacing the current mirror for a solid one, you know, something less chaotic. I’ll be sure to hang it lower. We’ll see if I can find something as large. I’m actually open to changing/adding anything except the dining set and rug. The things I know I will be changing/adding for sure are as follow: - The curtain. I really don’t like the brown curtain. I initially put it up just to add some privacy in the dining room in the evening, until I find something more suitable. - Tray. I would like a nice silver tray to set on the buffet. - Artwork. I’d like to add some artwork above the buffet. - Bar cart. I’d like a small bar cart on the left corner of the dining room. something I can keep fresh cut flowers and cocktail glasses on. - Chairs/Bench. For this one. I have two ideas. Either keeping the current 4 chairs and add a cream coloured leather bench. Or replacing all the chairs for 6 fabric upholstered/tufted cream dining chairs. I open to other suggestions....See MoreDining room..creating space in a small dining room /sitting room area
Comments (3)Without an actual to scale plan of the space there is no way of knowing what will fit and I love the low cabinet with the art BTW. I think you might be able to put a round table in the DR but I need measurements of the spaces I never like fake greenery or flowers and the mirror is really not reflecting anything worth seeing twice...See Moresixkeys
