Don't these make your mouth water?
Comments (6)Yes, I did - found the recipe on the web, and thought they were so pretty that I'd give them a try. I'm a great cookie-maker when the mood hits, but I'm not a big cookie-eater. These were pretty tasty - it's basically a vanila/peppermint flavored sugar cookie. Nice and thin and crunchy - gotta admit I enjoyed quite a few! Took the batch to work and it promptly disappeared! Happy New Year to you, Alberta! PV...See MoreDon't look a gift Iris in the mouth.
Comments (6)I have the Red Hot Poker which also is apparently a zone 5 just like the Japanese Iris you received. I wonder if you did as I do with the Red Hot Poker each winter...which is to bring them insideand put them into an unheated room in front of a window to let them go dormant...if that would work for you with your iris. Does anyone else in zone 2 or 3 do so to overwinter your zone 5 plants? What about planting it right next to your house just like I plant my hyacinth bulbs right next to my house. The hyacinth are also a zone 5 or 6 I believe. You could sink a 7-up plastic bottle next to it to water with if you want to. I think Laurie has done so with some of her perennials that like a lot of water. Brenda...See More10 best things you ever put in your mouth.
Comments (116)I also wonder about a lot of people who posted on this thread that I have not heard from in many years, but I also noticed that I never posted on this thread, and I can't imagine why. Anyway, I can try to make a list now. I'll number them, but this is just the order in which they come to my mind. 1. seafood gumbo 2. king crab legs (I don't care for lobster and much prefer crab) 3. cherimoya / guanabana (They are very similar to me.) 4. fried okra 5. fried alligator tail 6. fresh coconut or mamey ice cream (my two favorite flavors) 7. chocolate hazelnut Bavarian cream pie 8. chocolate turtles, with caramel made with cream instead of milk 9. Eggplant Parmigiana 10. dragon fruit / pitaya, especially in juice form I am also surprised at how many sweet items I named, since I do not eat many sweets, but maybe that is why they made my list. I have not eaten any of the things on my list in the past month😢, but I hope that will change soon. I don't eat candy as a rule, but it still has to make my list. As an honorable mention, I would like to add the chocolate croissants I got at a French bakery in Copacabana. I especially liked that bakery for breakfast because I could order in French instead of Portuguese....See More10 best things you've ever put into your mouth
Comments (16)Trying not to run to the fridge: A cup of fresh strong coffee with a bit of cream. Anything chocolate, any time, any place. Sweet scallops broiled with butter. Fresh strawberries. Oven-roasted asparagus with olive oil. Grilled cheese sandwich with fresh tomatoes on top of the cheese. Sunshine Hollow Vidalia onion-tomato dressing, suggested to me by someone on this forum. My fruit salad of sliced oranges, pears, bananas, currants, toasted sunflower seeds, with some Drambuie mixed in. My Crocked Pot Roast. Perfect key lime pie. Could go on and on!...See MoreSmivies (Ontario - 5b)
