What are 10 (or 5) best things you have put into your mouth?

In my opinion that changes depending on the time of year, for me in the summer ;
garden tomatoes
perfectly ripe watermelon
corn on the cop W/ butter
fresh strawberries
that first sip of cold beer on hot day

in the winter;
mincemeat pie
my own chili (the best IMO)
real spiced apple cider
good potroast
good champagne at New Years Eve

1. The very first fresh strawberry of the season
2. Deep fried califlower dipped in melted cheese
3. The very first bite of freshly baked pumpkin pie
4. Lobster dipped in hot butter
5. A mushroom, made any which way
6. Fresh homemade jam on a piece of fresh homemade bread
7. A cashew
8. A fresh from the garden tomato with salt
9. Brussel sprouts with melted butter
1. ear of corn on the cob soaked in butter, salted slightly
  I'm sure there are many more, now I'm very hungry!

All of these are great deals! But I may have gotten the deal of a lifetime. Last year after Christmas I was in a big box store when several TC caught my eye. Of course I was hoping for an after Christmas deal and I found one. I brought a plant over to the cashier and asked the price. Her voice and face shower great surprise "2 cents!" There were 8", 6", and 4" pots. I'm not going to tell you how many I bought for my 56 cents! Talk about a problem trying to sneak them into the house without DH catching on. Well, I also won a "completely restored" John Deere lawn tractor from the local Old Engine club a couple of years ago. It ran for about 15 minutes then blew up. LOL And now, the real prize. Elery and I went to a Taste of Home Cooking Show, he got tickets as a gift from his sister. One of the sponsors was a woman's shelter and a local builder donated a $1,500 island, beautiful handmade cabinetry with some kind of composite counter top that looks like granite. Raffle tickets were sold, proceeds went to the women's shelter. Elery bought 3 tickets, gave them to me. Yup, the island will be delivered to Elery's next week, we tried to sell it back to the builder because there's no place in either of our houses to install it. I think we've decided to keep it and put it into the new house when we build in a couple of years. It's a very, very nice prize but who the heck wins a kitchen island? Annie

I also wonder about a lot of people who posted on this thread that I have not heard from in many years, but I also noticed that I never posted on this thread, and I can't imagine why. Anyway, I can try to make a list now. I'll number them, but this is just the order in which they come to my mind. 1. seafood gumbo 2. king crab legs (I don't care for lobster and much prefer crab) 3. cherimoya / guanabana (They are very similar to me.) 4. fried okra 5. fried alligator tail 6. fresh coconut or mamey ice cream (my two favorite flavors) 7. chocolate hazelnut Bavarian cream pie 8. chocolate turtles, with caramel made with cream instead of milk 9. Eggplant Parmigiana 10. dragon fruit / pitaya, especially in juice form I am also surprised at how many sweet items I named, since I do not eat many sweets, but maybe that is why they made my list. I have not eaten any of the things on my list in the past month😢, but I hope that will change soon. I don't eat candy as a rule, but it still has to make my list. As an honorable mention, I would like to add the chocolate croissants I got at a French bakery in Copacabana. I especially liked that bakery for breakfast because I could order in French instead of Portuguese.

Today, I essayed egg pizza. Previously, I've made huevos rancheros pizza with the eggs cooked just until set then added to the mostly cooked pizza with some salsa on top for the last minute. Yolks still nice and runny. And I've eaten the spinach salad pizza with sliced hard boiled egg where the egg was cold from the fridge going on and got pleasantly warm but not further cooked during the full time in the oven. Inspired by Lars (and an uninspiring fridge), I tried the raw egg thing. Made on a thin, oiled pizza pan. Personal sized whole wheat dough crust with a little extra rim--some of the white oozed off anyway, but remarkably, didn't make a mess and lifted right up with the pie. The same mild tomato sauce I usually use for pizza, spread a bit extra generously (not tomato-y enough to compete on flavor). Two eggs cracked into a ramekin then poured onto the pizza. Grated four cheese. Crushed red pepper, a bunch of dried herbs, and garlic pepper. I forgot it was raw eggs, and should have used the bottle that had salt. I should have seasoned more aggressively altogether since these eggs don't even have salty yolks. Even so, it tasted good. It was also a revelation. The sauce prevented the egg from soaking into the crust even though there were some fissures where the gluten had torn. The white was wonderfully fluffy. I finally realized that it was as if poached! But better. It looked more like sunny side up, with lovely, horizontal, white parts. I like the whites. Poached seem all about subsuming them to the great star yolks. The level of fluff, however, makes me think that the heat of the oven (475ÃÂ°) made them rise a bit or something. One yolk was well done, but the other was at that magic golden place where it's solid but not quite cooked all the way through. I'd call it a success overall.

1. A fresh Sfogliatelle from either Maria's or Modern Bakery in Boston's North End. Locally, I'll take one from Cafe Aurora. With a cup of Boston's Best French roast coffee. Cream or milk only, thank you.

2. A glass of dry red Montpulciano d'Abruzzo.

3. The first mouthful of my warm cipollini agradolce.

4. Risotto

5. Joey's Osso Bucco, recipe from Cooking Under Cover.

6. Fresh home made pasta.

7. Grilled roasted red peppers drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

8. Fresh pesto over linguine. Or just eaten sans pasta with a spoon.

9. Krause's chocolate in Saugerties...any kind of filling with their dark chocolate coating. Hands down, their's is the best chocolate on the face of the earth ;o)
1. A cup of Harney's tea, either Hao Ya B, East Frisian, Eight at the Fort, or Boston. Sugar and cream, please.

Trying not to run to the fridge:

A cup of fresh strong coffee with a bit of cream.
Anything chocolate, any time, any place.
Sweet scallops broiled with butter.
Fresh strawberries.
Oven-roasted asparagus with olive oil.
Grilled cheese sandwich with fresh tomatoes on top of the cheese.
Sunshine Hollow Vidalia onion-tomato dressing, suggested to me by someone on this forum.
My fruit salad of sliced oranges, pears, bananas, currants, toasted sunflower seeds, with some Drambuie mixed in.
My Crocked Pot Roast.
Perfect key lime pie.

Could go on and on!

OMG...how could I have forgotten to include Ipswich fried clams? The Summer Shack in Cambridge makes some of the best! I'll have to sneak that one in my list somewhere.
