Are you quilting this weekend? Jan. 4-6
Comments (29)Rita, you've finished a 2ND postage stamp top? You are now officially my hero! I've been saving scraps, trimming, and sewing blocks for a couple of years now in hopes that I'll one day have enough done to put together one postage stamp quilt. I think it's just amazing that you've finished two! MLinda, I'm with you. I just printed off the tutorial for those granny squares and might make a block today. So far this weekend I've finished and packaged up two birthday blocks for the exchange. The first was a magic tricks block, and the other was quilters choice done in blue, so I made one of blue strips going various ways in sets, framed in more blue. The next two blocks for the birthday exchange are basic star patterns, so I think I'm going to get ahead of the game and make those today. Then I want to work on my sister's lonestar quilt, which I had to start all over because the points came out a bit wonky in my first attempt. That wasn't a total loss though, thankfully! I'm going to use it to make pillows, which will coordinate with the quilt. Look at me sewing like a rock star! (yep, I love watching Anne Burrell on the foodnetwork) Yesterday I bought a new-to-me sunflower-themed table runner kit while at a local quilting shop, so depending on how the day progresses, I may get into that as well. And of course, now that Sandra has me interested in the granny squares, I may try that one out today as well! Good thing I'm off and able to relax today, eh? Lol! -Dan...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? April 4-6
Comments (15)Thanks to everyone who responded about me sewing through my finger the other weekend... I got a cold or allergy attack right after that and didn't spend much time on the computer, but the finger has healed completely with no infection and I'm back to sewing... so glad I wasn't too traumatized to sew ever again! I literally *just* finished the a tote bag for an aunt whose birthday was December 11th... I was going to make a wall hanging, but after about 4 tries, I never got anything I was happy with, so I did a tote instead... I finally got all my "free favors" for friends done... hemmed pajamas, embroidered over a hole in some pants, and reversed a button and hole to turn a woman's jacket into a man's... I have a picture of the embroidery... my friend found some nice pants at a thrift store and the only problem was a hole in the back... so I gave him a link to check out some embroidery designs and this is what he chose... a cowboy hat... Here's the tote... I'm going to Heat N Bond a heart and the aunt's name (that I will embroider on another piece of fabric) and call it done... Every bit of the fabric was stuff I inherited from my grandmother... hopefully she's smiling down, glad it's being put to good use....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? July 4-6
Comments (14)No quilting or sewing for me this week-end. The daughter's church has a fireworks tent for their major fundraiser every year so she and I spent a few hours on Friday and Saturday out there. After all is said and done, they probably made about $6,000. They were busy right up until they were closing and packing up. Then we had a few ball games my great-grandkids were in that I wanted to attend, so that took up some more time. Plus, my fabric stash is at home so no playing around or doing the lotto for this month or next. Plan to work on getting the quilt top sandwiched and ready to quilt tomorrow. Wanted to wait until the holiday was over and everyone went back to work.....not that it really matters. :-) (psst....if everything works out, Bev2009 and I plan to meet July 21st on my way back from Chicago) SharonG/FL-IN...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (16)Donna, I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well... Hopefully it doesn't linger.... Sue, the weather here is beautiful.... you are going to love it. I think the Food and Wine Festival is still going on at Epcot.... friends who work there harrass me to go with them sometimes, but I worked there when I was 19 and have had enough magic for a lifetime! They call me a 29 year old aunt bea since Id rather be home than go to the parks..... just give me my rocking chair, quilt, cat, and Readers Digest. :o). Are you staying in one of the Disney resorts? If you get a chance to stroll through Downtown Disney one evening, it's a neat place.... Lights everywhere and lots of unique shops and restaurants! You may know this already, but send yourself a text message of which section and row you park in, if you're driving.... the parking lots are massive and it's so easy to lose the car! I work tomorrow, but Ill be slumped back over my machine with my nose to the grindstone (or handwheel!) And the pedal to the metal on Sunday.... Oh, 2 weekends ago when I posted that I was going to see my grandmother, I forgot to update you.... she'd told me she got an old dirty sewing machine at a thrift store for 10 bucks and wanted me to look at it.... I got there and it was an Singer 401A.... my sewing machine friend says it's arguably one of the best Singers ever made because it is gear driven.... slant shake, and ugly as sin! It sewed great and I oiled it up for her... I didn't know what it was until I got back home to my computer and told her what she had.... she was really proud of herself. ;o). We had a few laughs because it zig zagged when I set it on straight stitch and went straight when I had it on zig zag.... we thought it might be possessed. :o) Have a great weekend everyone!...See Moregrammyp
