Have you planted your onions yet in DFW?
Comments (9)Just a follow up bump here. After sleet and then a week with temps at or below 20 degrees, followed by seven inches of snow and then to top that off another snow a couple of days later, I think my onions said to heck with this. They were laying over, no color and I say dead. Then after a couple of warm days some of them actually started to show a little green. But I had to decide weather to chance a come back by all of them or lose a whole season waiting for nothing. So I bought a few more sets and replaced most of the onions. I did leave some to see if they would come back and produce good onions. Trouble may be in figuring out which ones were frozen the first time. Anyway, hope that is all the really long freezes because I have now planted 70 red potato seeds!!...See MoreHave you wrapped your gifts yet?
Comments (2)I was going to be a smarty pants and say, "Gifts? WHAT gifts?!" because I am so behind on getting ready for the season but this is a great tip. I will see when the Christmas fabric goes on sale and make up some for next year....See MoreHave you had your dinner yet?
Comments (23)Pam, razor clam, our local clam, Pacific razor clam. They are quite good but we eat them often, not the same rare treat as lobster which are not at all native in our area :) Either cleaned, breaded and fried, or cleaned and ground and served as about 2" crispy patties with lemon and tartar sauce. Chowder of course. My sis in law has a house on the beach 25 minutes away, walk onto the beach from her house, clean them in her kitchen and no mess is ever brought home :) Here is a link that might be useful: Pacific razor clam...See MoreHave you bought yours YET?
Comments (25)LOL me too Connie - I have never tasted a homemade chocolate covered cherry and Monica's sound wonderful. I would be content if all I received at Christmas from family was a good box of chocolate covered cherries and a fruitcake. I always give my friend Kathy the same gift every year since we were teenagers - a flannel nightgown. This year I had decided I would try another gift for her but wondering how she would take the break of tradtion but she actually came up to me and whispered she had enough nightgowns. LOL Boy, I was relieved. LOL I always try to buy my brother Paul a Canadian Farmer's Almanac and a Mad Magazine and of course some Kindereggs. I haven't done any shopping yet and may just end up giving homemade Christmas cookies this year to everyone. Anne...See More
