Comments (18)Are you putting the two units right together? I think 6 feet of stainless might be a bit much if unbroken, but it depends on the room. And the alcove you are describing might house them nicely and give enough warmth to balance the cool SS. I have 4 feet of stainless and it doesn't bother me. That is surrounded by my blue cabinets, and the two cooler colors are an accent wall - the backdrop for the white and cherry in my kitchen. So I'd say placement makes a difference too. Have you looked at color renderings? Look also at the views as you enter the room from different angles or sit in adjoining rooms. And with 2 units, you can always look at splitting them up. Comments (10)I have a double trash pullout, the front is used for garbage and the rear is used for recyclables (glass, cans, bottles). Looking at my sink, the trash cabinet is to the left. The dishwasher is to the right. A couple times a week DH dumps the recyclables into a bin in the garage, which he either leaves at the curb on pick-up day (we pay for trash pick up) or he takes it to the transfer station. We are not required to separate the recyclables when we put them at the curb, so we don't need 3+ bins. I love Linda's setup, though....See MoreDo you take a bone in ham out of the fridge
Comments (7)I usually bring roasts, steaks, turkey to about room temp before cooking. Never thought about ham though. Just popped that 10 lb baby in the oven at 275. Dinner will be about 4 PST. Serving with hubby's favorite - fresh green beans and baby red taters, cooked in bacon fat, garlic and onions and some vegetable stock. I had a dream about this ham last night. Comments (16)If it’s a recipe I’ve prepared many times I taste toward the end only for seasoning (you can always under-season, but over-seasoned is ruined for me). Otherwise I do taste throughout. If it’s a new recipe, or I’m cooking on the fly (or ‘fiddling’ as annie1992 calls it!) I will occasionally also taste individual ingredients to remind my taste buds – and not just ones I’m unfamiliar with. With some ingredients, I need to taste as I add, because the flavors can change for a variety of reasons – tomatoes can be fresh and vine-ripened or those nasty-pale mealy things, basil changes flavor over the summer, citrus varies in tartness and sweetness… etc. …and what sleevendog said about things that taste fantastic : ) I once drank almost 3 glasses of fresh tomato juice just ‘testing’ it – it was ambrosia and I couldn’t resist! Slightly OT: DH does ‘drive by’ tasting… he grabs food I’m prepping as he walks past. He’ll eat raw white onion in chunks, raw potatoes, and food mixed in raw chicken I’ve yet to cook… you can hear my screams for miles....See Morelascatx
