Love it, Raven! Old furniture is often ever so much better than new. Plus it has a history. Even if you don't know what that history is, it's there.

I discovered boot excitement a couple years ago and quickly learned to buy only genuine leather ones for long-lasting enjoyment. I have some foot problems and closed shoes give me misery so I hate to see sandal season come to an end. My boots have seemed to handle my foot problems well. On top of that they are warmer than shoes and there is no need to deal with pantyhose or thigh highs--socks do great. Hope you enjoy your boots as much as I enjoy mine.

These are the boots I wear when riding. They are Justins and one of the things I like about them is that they are waterproof. And they are very comfortable.

I lost all of my boots in the flood and I had a lot of them and none were cheap . I had a few pairs of Justin's my favorite pair were a denim blue leather . They were all floating around in the ick water .

I love boots. Dh and I decided we needed cowboy boots since we live in Texas. We went to the boot store and each got a pair for our anniversary present last year. I got a pair of blingy pocket jeans to go with it. We wore those for our anniversary last year and this year.

I'm trying not to spend money on wants this year since the economy is down. I have some genealogy wants. I have a big scrapbook project that I really want to do for the family tree. Apparently, I have more family info than others. My research isn't as extensive as that of some people. I have a growing collection of pictures and stories from extended family. I think any play money I get will be directed there for printing out photos and getting things in a format where I can share what I have in a physical scrapbook.

Adella, if you end up needing a lot of prints you might want to get on the mailing list of a good online printer and keep an eye out for a sale. I like Mpix.com and Adoramapix.com. I take advantage of their sales often.

Betsy, I can remember when I couldn't imagine owning a pair of shoes made of man-made materials. Back then only the very low-end lines were "plastic." I looked at leather last year when I first went shopping for boots, but couldn't afford it. (Ah, those Fryes!) When we had horses, my daughter's riding boots cost several hundred dollars; that was okay then, but even 100 bucks would be too much now. But I don't mind . . . at my age the synthetic material just might outlast me. :-)

Raven, that's sad. My daughter-in-law found herself in slimy mud up to her knees the other day. She was wearing a favorite pair of shoes, but had to trash them.

Since I am on the thrifty side, Alisande, I shop end-of-season sales so that I can get the most for my money. Those retailers want to move their merchandise instead of holding it over for another season. That is the way that I managed to get a brown pair and a black pair for a good bit less than 100 bucks. Since we are expecting record high temps next week, it may be a while before we will need boots here.

Betsy, as soon as I bought the boots, the temperature went up here. They're talking about a very warm couple of days this week. Not to worry, though . . . winter is coming. Then I'll be in snow boots. I bought a nice pair in February or March from Sierra's end-of-season sale. That's definitely the way to go . My granddaughter was telling me the other day that she does the same thing. "I got it from you," she said. :-)

I love the Sierra trading company sales on shoes ! I always seem to find something I need .

I love, love the brown riding boots. You got a heck of a score! I don't wear tights, etc, so I'd be tucking my jeans in, and they'd be way too bulky, even if I could get a wide enough calf.

I've been looking for mid-calf type boots but I still balk at paying $70 and more which is all I seem to find.

Jasdip, I don't wear tights either. Nor do I wear "skinny jeans." But jeans are currently available in slim fit, which is a compromise between regular and skinny. They look good with boots IMO. No bulk inside. My favorites are Gloria Vanderbilt's Bridget jeans in slim fit. They have a lot of stretch and are close-fitting without looking like tights on steroids. :-)

I had a great pair of Frye boots when I was in my 20's. I loved them so much and wore them to work all the time. But it's been years since I had calves thin enough to fit in tall boots like that. I do like that look!

I have been seeing a new trend all over the Houston area and in Louisiana . Girls wearing colorful rubber boots with shorts and every day wear . I own a couple pair of these rubber boots but use them in rain and wet areas . They were very helpful during the flood . But they are hot and heavy and not terribly comfortable . They are cute in all of the prints and colors . I have also seen the cowboy boots in rubber now those are pretty nice and much more comfortable but still hot . My sister has a pair I really like . But I don't get wearing any heavy rubber boots in the heat of the Houston summer , it's been cooler lately but I am talking about months ago .

I like boots too, but the only pair I own are a pair of cowboy boots I bought when i was 14! They still fit but I do not wear them. I probably bought them from Sears. They are leather with a white insert design to them. Lucky you gals that buy boots!

None of mine fit me any more except the Justin's and a few pair of exotic cowboy boots still would have preferred to give them away . I think that one of the people helping us pull all the wet stuff out immediately after the flood took a bunch of them she did ask and I told her anything I said went to the trash she could certainly take . So maybe they are still around lol. I was not going to be using anything that soaked in the ick water . I wore boots all the time when I was younger . My mom was the same way . We had boxes of boots we donated from her house .

I bought some tall black boots at JCP last year on sale. LOVE them! I was kicking myself for not buying them in brown. Went back several months later and they were having a clearance sale on all winter type things and low and behold there were the brown boots - in my size! I think I paid about $11 for them. So happy.

Wearing them today for the first time. : )

Nice, Share! JCP is where I bought my black ones last year, on sale. I was planning to go back this year if I hadn't stopped at Burlington first.
