Replacing 20 year old split AC and gas furnace in North Carolina

  • Upstairs 1800 SFT
  • Current AC XE 1000 Trane - 3 tons
  • Current Gas Furnace XE 80 - 80 BTU
  • Both 20 yrs old and on last legs - 3 ton AC and 80 BU Furnace cooled and heated the upstairs well - 4 Bed rooms - each bed room has individual air return

After much reading and excellent help on this forum ( thanks to Tiger Dunes , Ryan Hughes ) decided on :

AC - Trane XR 14

Furnace - Trane XT 80

Will use existing Nest Thermostat

New copper line set and check duct work and seal as needed

( Budget constraints - wanted XR 17 and XV 80 - but they are pricing too high )

  • Quote :

$ 7200

AC - 4TTR4037L1

Furnace- DD1B080A9H3

Coil - 4PXBD36BS3

Options :

5 inch perfect fit cabinet - $ 350

10 yr labor - $1000

Questions :

  • Is the coil a good match ?
  • Pricing seems to be on the higher side compared to what I have seen on this forum - what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance ,

Srinivas
