The nuggets button strikes me as just plain weird. The manual lists five other specialty buttons for the oven. The "crispy pizza" button might be useful if its function is to set the oven to use only the bottom element for heating/reheating. Many electric ovens these days use both the upper and lower elements for at least pre-heating and some reportedly even run the upper element during baking when temperatures drop too low (as from opening the oven door.) The others sound plausibly useful (unlike the nuggets button) but seem dubious when you think about them. The "proofing" and "defrost" buttons apparently run the oven a little over 100 degress F. I do the same thing with my present stove by turning on the oven light. The "keep warm" button apparently automatically sets the oven to 170F on a three hour timer for keeping completed dishes warm while you do other things. Not sure what this really is intended to accomplish since the NE597 has a warming drawer. Anyway, what is so inconvenient about setting the oven to convection bake at 170 degrees? The "slow cook" button is mystifying to me. There are "low" and Hi" selections but the manual gives no indication of what temperatures they represent. Apparently, you can use it for roasting meat at a some unspecified low and slow temperature. Why I would not just pick a setting such as 190 or 220 F and dial it in? The manual does not explain. I wonder if riderman357 has anything more to report on the replacement NE597 that he is supposed to be receiving?

I have the same broiler issue mentioned by Tim Charron. The control panel says "Broiling 500°" but I can pull the broiler rack out with my bare hands. Technicians have come twice and it works when they are here, but the next day, it maybe heats up to 250 and then dies. The only difference between my using it versus when the techs are here is that they have had the range pulled out from the peninsula that it's in. My sister has the Jenn-Air version of this range and also has the same broiler issue. Both the Jenn-Air and KitchenAid models of this range have been discontinued and have not been replaced with newer models. I also have the above-mentioned issue with the control panel area becoming unbelievably hot, particularly on a left side, and a tech who came for that said it was normal ?!?!?

I have a entry level Kitchen Aid built in induction cooktop. It is set in over a Whirlpool oven because this is my forever home and I hate pulling the stove out to clean the floor. It works for me. I chose the cooktop after reviewing clients' experience. It also is safe for my young grandchildren to use. I like the lock feature on too. I purchased the patterned glass to hide minor scratches. The cooktop makes no noise at all because I use very heavy laminated pots and pans. I just picked up the ones I wanted at Winners. I learned from working in the industry, it's about the pots more than anything. I like cast iron but I don't use them because of scratching. I use parchment paper between my ancient wok and it scorches the paper but at least the top stays clean and not scratched. I also have tried the paper on the surface when flipping in a fry pan. It works great. I seldom use the higher settings because the residual heat in the pans does the work. I often shut off pasta and veggies early. My bridge works evenly because the pans are heavy. My blue roaster was a disaster on the bridge and burned on low heat. Proof it's about the pan. My only concern was that the magnets were damaged with shipping but they were replaced right away. I believe it has more to do with going through customs from the USA than anything else because it seems to be a common repair with CDN clients. Not a deal breaker but wish they would just assemble on site if my hunch is right. Overall I'm pleased with this purchase. It has given excellent performance. We have used it for 3 years now. I cannot say the same for premium brands that others have purchased or I have used on vacations. One note is be prepared to learn how to boil a soft egg again. I finally am consistent.

My KitchenAid KFID500 was delivered 05/23/2017. I love it. It replaced a 1984 Hotpoint slide-in range (coil burners). I knew GE was going to be coming out with a double oven induction range and I was trying to hold out for that, but due to a major issue with the range, I had to get a new one. I wanted double ovens and the KA was the only one. I had also wanted a slide-in replacement and KitchenAid an JennAir had slide-in induction single oven range but used the dreaded, horrid Aqualift technology. And that was unacceptable. My old range was the old continuous clean oven liner. I wanted a true self-cleaning oven. I've had no issue with the range thus far. I've enjoyed the steam tray feature for the lower oven and have used it for desserts as well as baking bread. And love the slow-cook function.
