Hi Cori - just had a birthday so I went to Alden Nursery today and got the very last Peach Swirl! My lone bud is actually curving upward, looking like a climber. It will be interesting to see what it does.

Alden Nursery is a really impressive place, maybe the nicest nursery I've ever seen. I was really impressed and will go back next spring. Here's Alden's Neil Diamond, a rose I just got from Roses Unlimited. Every rose, every plant is so exceptionally healthy and well-cared for.

Do you know anything about the magnificent trees on the property? I think they're oaks and some of them are growing in intricate ways.

Ann I am so glad you went! Isn't it an amazing place?!?!! I would have to ask about the specifics on the trees, but I do know they're over 100 years old. Lots of oaks grow horizontal like that in this area... but the oaks there are quite formidable! And of course the nursery and gardens all around them just makes it that much more amazing.

Oh I'm so happy they had one left and you got a Peach Swirl too! They have a bunch of classes and events there too. The Mt Diablo Rose society seems to be the local Rose society in that area and they meet in Dublin. If I ever get some free time I think that's the society I would join just because of their association with Alden Lane Nursery!

Next time you go... let me know and let's meet there! Wouldn't that be fun? Dangerous for our wallets... but fun!

Thanks Cori - always nice to get a rose on my birthday and experience a new nursery! If I lived near Alden I'd have a hard time staying away.

Speaking of rose societies, just wanted to throw out this idea to everyone that visiting each other's gardens is part of being in a rose society. I think I'm supposed to have members of my rose society (North Bay) over to my garden this fall, after spring-planted roses have had a chance to settle in. I'm a little worried about it (will my roses be blooming, look ok, weeds, etc.) but it should be ok. Maybe I can have some of you who live in the Bay Area over to my relatively small garden (100 roses or so) around that time as well? If anyone thinks it would be fun to invite your forum friends over this season, I'm sure some of us would love to meet you and see your roses in person.

Ann for some reason I didn't see this before! Oh yes I would love to come over! What a gracious offer! I would love to have people over too. Maybe in the fall as well when things won't be as hectic in my schedule... or maybe even next spring. My schedule is horrendous currently. I haven't joined a rose society yet, but I was thinking of joining Mt Diablo's society next year when I could make more meetings. What a wonderful idea to host our own little get togethers!

Peach Swirl's coloring had more orange since the temps were in the 70s for a couple weeks. This rose has substantial petals, wonderful fragrance and gorgeous form in my yard. I usually don't like orange at all and don't even like peach, but I am so glad I decided to give peach a chance with this rose. It handles dry heat really well! Fabulously actually. The foliage is very healthy and shiny... even though it looks like it has yellow variegated coloring on leaves that indicates it might have a virus, who knows, it's doing great and is acting completely healthy, disease resistant and doesn't seem to need a lot of water! Doesn't crisp in dry heat. Lasts as long in the vase as a florist rose! Fabulous fragrance like baby powder and roses... and really unique coloring for stripes.

I know nothing about exhibiting roses... but I would think this one would be really impressive at a rose show. I hope someone on here who shows roses tries to exhibit this one! The blooms almost look sculpted they're so picture perfect!

Oh Ann yours is lovely! I will admit I have cut every single bloom at some point to make a bouquet so I didn't realize the swirls aged to red with more sunlight! Indoors they do not. The blooms last so long and are so fragrant in the vase I'm finding it hard to leave them on the bush!

Cori Ann, I'm enjoying rereading this thread and catching up. Now where am I going to put Peach Swirl if I ever acquire one, which I'd love to do? Yours is just gorgeous, and I don't care for stripes normally (though PS's stripes are pretty subtle.) Those sherbety colors are marvelous. Alden Lane Nursery sounds wonderful and a lot like our local Edwards. These independent nurseries are a treasure, aren't they? And we need to do our patriotic rose duty to support them. Diane

I bet you could put Peach Swirl in PAoK's space. ;-) Or anywhere that you usually have your swirly multicolored hybrid snapdragons.

If your Edward's has it next year I believe this is one you absolutely must get Diane!

I've had few more lovely blooms and would highly recommend this rose. It's fragrant and may be the longest lasting cut flower I grow. Vase life for me has been at least one week.

How tall/wide will PS get?. I may have just found a space for it.

Hard to say since it is a fairly new release. I'm growing my 2 as short climbers though. They seem to like being pulled laterally to bloom more. They also seem to want to grow tall. Not sure how they would grow without being espaliered like I am doing. Maybe Ann can say? I would guess PS wants to be tall and narrow unless trained though.... I think that is what the label said too.

My Peach Swirl is still in a big pot waiting for permanent parking so I can't really say for sure, but the canes are growing from what looks like a small "tree trunk" suggesting that a large rose may be on its way. I agree with Cori that it's likely to be tall, not sure about width. Sorry!

My roses have been getting very little care lately due to my schedule. Peach Swirl is a constant joy with no deadheading, feeding, pest control or cleaning up, even in the dead heat of summer! I am so impressed with this rose.

Look at this perfect bloom... that's just almost impossible in the summer here (with the thrips, heat, etc)...

Wonderfully healthy roses without a care in the world. Drip irrigation and mulch when I first put them in ... that's all the coddling these two received! (Notice the shade I had to make for the espaliered orange tree next to it... while Peach Swirl hasn't needed any protection from the sun at all)...

Fragrant and last so long in the vase too. If you are in a dry, warm climate and have room... you must find a spot for this rose!

Yow, Cori Ann, I didn't realize Peach Swirl was such a low care rose--of course, it is beautiful. Maybe I need nothing but this rose in my garden. I will look for it at Edwards next year. With magical thinking, I may come across a great space to grow Peach Swirl--ha. Diane

I hope you find it Diane! I will be honest, I wish I would put them all across this fence instead of the ones I have there (even though the ones I have there are doing well). It's just such an easy rose, beautiful rose.

Either way I have a soft spot for peachy pink roses. This one is gorgeous and the stripes are an extra plus! Can't wait to hear how it does for you over time.

Wow I really need to get mine in the ground! Yours is so beautiful. I love all the color changes with each flush. Mine has only had one flush and died back half way. It's just been so dang hot I can't seem to make myself get out there and do anything. Guess I need to quit procrastinating...

Wow Beth that stinks! Mine is extremely heat tolerant and doesn't die back at all after blooming. Maybe this one isn't good in a container.

Any updates on your Village Maid? I'm still thinking of getting this one and have wondered how yours did? How big did she get? How often did it bloom for you?

I’m nursing it along Sultry, but it is obvious that this just isn’t the right climate for it (as I was warned). Just too hot. It bloomed just the once, as it was a tiny, very young band and only blooms in the spring.... but it also really hasn’t grown much. Florida probably isn’t the right climate for it either. Sorry for the bad news!

Bringing up this thread again. I don't have room in my garden for Peach Swirl, but I have friends that do and maybe they will share their blooms with me if they get this one. Cori Ann, where did you order your second Peach Swirl? Edmunds maybe? Or the same local place where you bought the first one?

Edit: Just found out that Otto and Sons in Filmore, CA has it. They aren't to far from me, so I think I will take a trip out there. You sold me on this rose, Cori Ann by your beautiful photos and saying that it is fragrant!

Jasmine, Glad to see you found a source for Peach Swirl. I love this rose! If anyone doubts they have room for Peach Swirl...make room lol. You need this rose! I would grow her on the roof if I had to :D Ordered another one the other day. It will have to go in a pot. I hope more places start carrying her so everyone can get it.

Update. Mine are healthy, vigorous bloomers and growers, even though they are virused. Those of you with healthy unvirused plants, expect them to be capable of growing very tall, wide and blooming a ton!

Mine are as tall and wide as little climbers. Handles extreme sun and heat like it’s nothing. Not demanding at all. I wonder what it would do if I fertilized it and gave it a bit more water?! (I really don’t give it much of anything).

Healthy foliage, although signs of virus.

Expect lots and lots of big, fragrant blooms for cutting.

Gosh your photos make me so glad I got it !!! Is it common for this variety to be virused ? My plant was tagged from certified roses

Cori Ann, Peach Swirl is a mighty gorgeous hunk o' rose that I have no way of acquiring, unless you might have a suggestion. Edmunds can't ship here, and Edwards doesn't carry PS. Will I have to spend my remaining years sighing over your luscious photos? Peach Swirl looks good enough to eat. Diane

Good suggestions, Cori Ann, and bayarea girl. I actually thought about talking to the head of roses and perennials at Edwards. I know her, and she has special ordered roses for me before--and they turned out to be best sellers (that's a story for another time). She is the neatest woman, and an expert on peonies and clematis, which she grows for Edwards by the hundreds. I don't know where she gets the time (I know another person like that, Cori Ann). And trying Regan is a good idea if I can't get Anju to order Peach Swirl, bayarea. Regan starts taking orders in July. Thanks for the suggestion. Thank heavens I've had my nightly ice cream already, or I'd get on a flight to Cali for some of that peach swirl with vanilla and whipped cream. A huge bowl. Boy, does that sound good. Diane

Got my Peach Swirl planted today! We couldn't put it where I wanted, because we hit solid rock. Still happy though. The bud union has about 3 inches of dirt over it. It had a long shaft. (irritating)

I planted my 2nd peach swirl yesterday after letting it soak a few days. I put it in a pot until I decide what to do with it.
