I don't like my backsplash...Should I send it back?
Comments (30)It doesn't look that bad to me. The pattern would practically disappear with a like-colored grout and would just be a subtle texture. If the color is off (which is best determined in person and in different lighting) it might always annoy you which is a good reason to send it back. But the photos don't look any worse than some others I've seen posted that have been "oooh"ed and "ahhh"ed. I think if you had posted how much you loved it, you'd have had just as many agree. To me, the black hardware and wood valance "speaks" of a more country (vs urban) look. But I don't know the overall effect you're hoping to achieve....See MoreI’m having trouble choosing a backsplash for my kitchen. Help!
Comments (16)Ok, coley, what do you think about the suggestions you’ve gotten so far? If you prefer rectilinear tiles, that’s fine, but it would be helpful to know. What I see in your inspiration images is white cabinets with bs tile that is cream, white, or grey. If you want alternatives, then order some tiles in cream and white, and try some other grays....See Morehelp w/ backsplash! I’m at my wits in 2yrs into a post fire rebuild.
Comments (39)he's 83. he's a builder, not a designer. I have large plank hardwoods. I actually did a herringbone inlay w/zellige tiles. I'm sure his head would have exploded I was going to do this design on my backsplash but I didn't have enough of this tile (it was a clearance buy) and since I have black appliances, it would have been too dark. But for him to say this classic design would clash w/your floor,,,,huh? what kind of floor does he think you need to have? what you picked will basically look like this, shown here w/wood floors: Do any of these pics clash to you? of course not. tell your builder to build, but keep quiet when it comes to tile so, how exactly does the floor clash? to me, a plain old subway layout is so trite, and so completely overdone, I can't take it anymore. if you have a country farmhouse, great. your kitchen is more transitional than traditional This is a bit more traditional look. the beveled arabesque this is how your tile will look with more of a gray grout. the first pic I posted will be the look if you go w/a white grout. you can barely see the design...See MoreI need help! I have NO IDEA what backsplash to do. I don’t want subway
Comments (10)So what you're saying is that you don't want a plain boring white rectangle offset tile, which is wise since everything else in your room is white. There are SO many choices in many different shapes, textures and colors. You can be creative with pattern--stacked, offset, herringbone. You can do square offset, arabesque, fishtail, in a dizzying array of colors and textures. Texture is a great way to add interest, I like glossy glazed brick, zelig or crackle tile. Try to find hand-made tiles which are much more interesting than the mass-produced ones in the big box stores. Go to a good tile showroom and bring home samples--these stores usually have talented designers on staff who can help you select something you love! And definitely do not rush. You can cook in a kitchen with no backsplash for as long as it takes for you to find your preferred tile. Here are some of my favorites: Zelig tile: Gray-green mottled color: Close up of zelig tile dark navy or black fishtail: Green glossy with accent on top: Another green with varying color: Square and rectangular white tile in an interesting pattern: Bright green glossy: Gray rectangle with smaller rectangles in niche: Gray rectangles with black liner: Large turquoise arabesque: gray crackle with black and beaded liner:...See Moresherri1058
