Color suggestions needed for door/shutters

I just recently painted my front door a taupe color, but I'm still not happy with the overall look. Should I go with a darker brown on the door or should I paint the shutters to match the door? Or should I change the color scheme altogether? Suggestions please!!

I'd paint the trim around the windows and the columns the same color as the door.

can the siding be painted or is it vinyl?

The siding is vinyl. Thanks for your suggestion. I hadn't considered painting the trim or the columns.

The red shutters kind of disappear on your brick. You could consider black, charcoal or sage green for the shutters and garage doors. Your front door would depend on what color you choose.

If you make the other changes as suggested, I don't think you'll feel the need to paint the brick. There's no sense creating a maintenance issue where there is none now. The house has the potential to be very handsome. Some pretty pots with flowers on either side of your door will add some color as well. Don't forget that nothing looks pretty this time of year when trees are bare and lawns are brown.

I would remove the shutters since they look fake because they look like they would never cover over the windows. How about a deep blue for the door?

I think the taupe color doesn't relate the the siding or the brick.. Are the shutters black?

I would go with a black door and black shutters.

Black, cream, taupe and brick, all neutral! You need a pop of color on that door...maybe a green? Were the columns added? Their placement is odd to me.

Maybe paint the columns the same color as the siding to have them blend in more?

The shutters are brown. The roof is a reddish brown color which is why I haven't painted them black...not sure if that would make them look out of place. I definitely agree that it needs a pop of color...just not sure which color to choose.

Also, the columns are original to the house and yes, their placement is odd. I will probably do away with them eventually

Is there a color your just love? I think with your house, you really have a lot to choose from, as the palette is very neutral. You can make the door as a place to bring in some character and stand out.

The columns may be structural, so before you do away with them, make sure you even can!

Could you post a close up pic of the bricks?

If it were my house, I would think about painting the columns, shutters, and window surrounds all the same color that goes well with the roof and brick colors. Then I would do the door in something really bright - some shade of orange if it goes with the brick, maybe red, maybe turquoise.
