The leaves don't seem to have bristle-tips on the lobes, so IMO it's in the white oak group. Acorns also look like a white-group oak.

Tell us more. What is the form of the tree like? Is it evergreen? Semi-evergreen or deciduous?

It looks a lot like Q.austrina, but those are rare even where they are native.

I believe it's semi evergreen, the trunk is dark and has deep scales, open spread, someone said it looks like a bottomland post oak, but the acorns are bigger and the branches aren't twisted like a post oak

I'm wondering if it could be a hybrid between an American oak and a Mexican Oak. The leaves of Quercus 'Zehra' look similar, but I can't find any pics of the bark.

Looks like quercus polymopha (Monterey Oak) to me. It's certainly the right environment for it.
